This charming cottage, set over two levels and with an enclosed garden, on the outskirts of Pickering, is ideal for families or friends who are train enthusiasts, as you can watch the steam trains passing just behind your garden fence. The bustling market town of Pickering is home to a weekly market, various independent shops, cafes, and tea rooms to drop by and indulge in after a day of exploring Pickering Castle and the Beck Isle Museum of Rural Life.

A pretty property full of character has been decorated in soothing tones to create a relaxing home-from-home, perfect for spending quality time together. Enter through the back garden into the lounge, and the beautiful exposed wooden ceiling takes your eye. Sink into the comfortable sofas, throw a log on the wood burner in the cooler months and spend time chatting or watching the TV. Stairs from the lounge lead to the first floor. A contemporary kitchen/dining room has all the appliances you need to cook up a storm, and a bathroom completes the downstairs. On the first floor you’ll find three bedrooms - one king-size, one single and one twin with a window seat. Outside is an enclosed garden at the rear with seating from which to watch the steam trains.

You can catch the steam train from Pickering for a journey over the North York Moors to the popular seaside town of Whitby and enjoy the beautiful countryside along the route. Head into the moors to the picturesque village of Goathland (16 miles) and walk the three-mile Mallyan Spout / Beck Hole loop. Seasoned walkers should go to Newton Dale (10 miles) for walks between three to seven miles to enjoy. Cayton Bay Beach and Scarborough, the later with cliff tops and delicious fish and chips, are less than 20 miles away.

Lovely cosy cottage snug and warm. Beautiful location waved to so many Santa's Express Steam Trains the days leading to Xmas Day....... Plenty of walks from the door with our two dogs. Beds were all comfy, as it was Xmas made alot of use of the oven - easy to use and very good working order, log burner was great, but only used once as cottage was Read morewarm anyway! We were lucky for the time of year the weather was mild. We walked into Pickering as only about a mile, as of most of the surrounding villages Pickering is lovely - would certainly reccomend. Hide

A cute little cottage, very warm, cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped. Lovely quiet location with the steam trains passing the garden and hearing lots of owls and other wildlife. Lots of walks from the cottage door and lots of lovely pubs and restaurants in the area. We would love to return.

Cottage is in excellent location for exploring the local area and for exercising our dogs on the many walking trails nearby. The cottage was very clean and the furniture was ok, but needed a coffee table or something table like in the living room to stand drinks etc on (we were worried about the possibility of spilling drinks on the sofas). The bRead moreasic equipment was good but crockery felt very cheap. Couldn't get radiators in bedrooms to come on at all (but living room one worked ok)(not major prob as it was not particularly cold, but could have been worse earlier in the season). Beds were very comfortable, but difficult to get rooms dark with only the slat type blinds fitted (especially at rear of property), so kept getting woken up at 5am by the daylight. These small niggles make the cottage seem less value for money, appreciate that the full occupancy would have been 5 persons and there was only the two of us. For us it felt reasonably spacious but suspect it would feel quite tight for five adults. Hide

We have visited the property before so knew what to expect. Many of the extras we had before such as games and vieos were missing. I assume this was due to covid! The location of the property made it difficult to walk the dog but overall a very enjoyable week.
