Pickering cottages
Our Pickering Cottages are located in one of the most popular towns in the North York Moors area. A traditional market town in many ways, there are still weekly street markets on Mondays and a great choice of independent shops as well as some well-known high street stores. Visitors are spoilt for choice for tearooms, pubs and restaurants and the visitor attractions include the North York Moors Railway, Pickering Castle and the Beck Isle Museum of Rural Life. There are a number of events throughout the year which include a Wartime Weekend held each October where the whole town gets involved in the 1940's festivities. The North York Moors Railway holds both steam and diesel galas during the year with events along the 18 mile stretch of the line.
Our cottages in Pickering are an excellent location for anyone wanting to explore the area. The historic city of York is less than an hour away, as are the coastal resorts of Scarborough and Whitby. The stunning landscapes of the North York Moors National Park are just a few miles to the north, where a number of picturesque villages are perfect for pottering around. The historic houses of Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall, plus a number of castles and abbeys, are within easy reach. For those who want to enjoy some more strenuous activities, Dalby Forest is just a few miles away and offers many way-marked trails for walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers.
