The quiet village of Lockton is a great place to enjoy a self catering break. The village is located in the North York Moors and the nearby village of Levisham has a train station from which the North Yorkshire Moors Railway stops, so you are never far away from the most stunning views the moors have to offer. The village itself has a great pub, the Fox & Rabbit, which serves food, a wonderful local tea room and gallery and a medieval church, St Giles, that is well worth a visit.
The market town of Pickering is just 10 minutes drive away by car with all the amenities you could need, including a variety of restaurants and cafes, and the little village of Goathland, setting for ITV’s Heartbeat, is less than 9 miles away over the moors. The Yorkshire coast is also well within reach, the seaside town of Whitby is just 15 miles away while Scarborough is 20 miles away.
