Thank you for a wonderful weekend in North Yorkshire. Ted's cottage was the perfect place for us to stay. The Christmas decorations added to the cosiness of the cottage and it was a wonderful way to start the countdown to Christmas.
This thriving market town of Kirkbymoorside approx 25 miles north of York and nestled between the market towns of Pickering and historic Helmsley. Kirkbymoorside ('Kirby') is a friendly, proper village rather than a tourist town and is close to some great walking and cycling routes on the North York Moors. Pickering has the famous N Y Moors steam railway, as featured in many films and TV series where you can enjoy a delightful ride through the countryside to Grosmont with the option to alight at intermediate stations and enjoy a local walk to make a full day of it. For a day out at the seaside you have great access to Whitby and Scarborough. For mountain biking then Dalby Forest is a great day out for all the family.
