Property code: OC-Y007

Situated in the Howardian Hills, one of the most picturesque areas of North Yorkshire, leave behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life by escaping to this homely bolthole bursting with charming original features, perfect for a romantic couple’s getaway in the heart of some of the most breathtaking and rural walking country.

You won’t be leaving behind your surroundings for long as you retire to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which features floor-to-ceiling picture windows that frame open countryside views; cosy up on the leather sofa and simply admire the sunset whilst toes are kept toasty by the underfloor heating. Cook up a storm with your delicious local produce in the contemporary kitchen and enjoy dining romantically long into the evening seated around the rustic wooden dining table. When you can’t resist the call of bedtime any longer, head upstairs to admire the impressive, exposed ceiling beams in the spacious yet homely king-size bedroom before retiring for a well-earned rest before tomorrow’s adventure. Soak up your fresh countryside air by dining alfresco on the patio before getting the blood pumping with a game of tennis on the shared tennis court.

It would be hard not to find pure and tranquillity in the sleepy, rural village of East Gilling, nestled in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just south of the glorious North York Moors National Park, which offers a playground of scenic walks through open, heather-clad moorland to explore. Soak up the local scenery by jumping aboard a steam train from Pickering 18.5 miles away; relax by taking in the stunning landscapes along the scenic journey of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to reach the iconic Gothic town of Whitby. Head 6 miles north to Helmsley to explore its plethora of independent shops showcasing this area’s best local produce.

A really nice country cottage ideal for a comfortable relaxing break in a area of outstanding natural beauty. National Trust and/or English Heritage members would find lots to visit in the area and the East Coast is only 35 miles or so away.

On the whole the property was very good. The duvet was much too hot for the summer so provision of a summer one would have been good. A pizza cutter would have been nice but otherwise lovely and nice owner and housekeeper.
