We had such a wonderful weekend. The owners are so lovely and provided us with a very warm welcome including milk and juice in the fridge, biscuits on the table, a roaring fire and they even took all our online shopping in that arrived early. We felt at home straight away and kids and adults had a brilliant weekend a like. Couldn't habe wished for anything more. We hope to return very soon. Dale View Barn, in Fryup Dale is a lovely location to get away from it all, with excellent walks on the doorstep.A very cosy barn with a great lounge with stunning views. The accommodation was excellent for three families holidaying together with plenty oMs A Wathern - 6th November 2015
We stayed for a week in mid September. The house was exactly as described on the website and perhaps even better than the photos suggested. The house itself is very well appointed to a high quality and the facilities lacked nothing. The way the house is laid out would lend itself equally well to a group of friends, a family (large or small), a couple wanting a peaceful get-away or even 2 families with separate facilities. The views over the dale are fantastic and the large sitting room window with its built in shelf overlooking the dale is a great place to sit and admire the views / get the binoculars out. The location was also as we had hoped - very peaceful, completely away from it all yet only a few minutes' drive from the nearby village of Danby. Trish and John were excellent hosts - very welcoming with plenty of helpful suggestions, walking / driving routes and local information. We would certainly recommend Dale View Barn and will ourselves no doubt return for another break in the futureMr Ross - 19th September 2015
Beautiful setting.House was great and met our needs especially for our 2 year old grandson- plenty of space inside and out.Best equipped self catering accommodation we have been toThe H Family - 29th August 2015
A wonderful setting and what a view. The barn was one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed in. Plenty of crockery and pans etc.The space is great for the childrenThe G Family - 27th June 2015
I booked a weekend away for my family, ( wife, children / spouses, grandchildren, sister and father in law ), to celebrate my 65th birthday. We all agreed it was a fabulous cottage with stunning views and only a half hour from Whitby. The property was ideal with everything you could need, including a little study area with plenty of games etc to keep my young grandchildren happy. Both Mr and Mrs Anderson were very welcoming and friendly and their property is a credit to them.Graham Sparkes
Fryup Dale is a picturesque, peaceful hamlet in North Yorkshire set around breathtaking countryside of the North York Moors and is one of the dales of the Esk Valley. The Coast to Coast trail runs at the top of the dale. Fryup is thought to have derived from 'frigga' an old English personal name and 'up' or 'hop' meaning valley. It is an ideal location for walkers and looks to the eye like a patchwork quilt made up of walls, hedges farms and a few houses and cottages. Whitby is only 11 miles. Coastal villages, Staithes (CBeebies favourite Old Jack's Boat is filmed here), Runswick Bay and Sandsend to name just a few are 20 to 30 minutes drive away. Goathland (Heartbeat's Aidensfield), Helmsley and Pickering (home to the North York Moors Railway) are also within driving distance. The iconic Lion Inn at Blakey, which is the highest pub on the moors is only a 10 minute vdrive - please call in, if only to see the photographs of the snowdrifts that the pub experiences in severe winters, but also for the excellent food which is served all day. The historic city of York is only one hours drive, making Fryup Dale a perfect location for exploring the Moors, the coast and the Yorkshire heritage.
