This was our second stay at Stable Cottage. The property is delightful and ideally placed for visiting the coast, moors and dales. The owners are really welcoming and go over and above to ensure a comfortable stay. Ingrid Flute provides an excellent and seamless service.
We have literally fallen in love with Yorkshire and enjoy the variety of landscapes this beautiful county has to offer. We stay in or close to Pickering which is a charming market town with good access to the moors, coast and dales. Stable cottage in Cropton is a delightful holiday cottage and an ideal base for exploring all that Yorkshire has to offer. The warm welcome extended by the owners, only served to enhance our stay.
Cropton is a quiet unspoilt village near Pickering, dating back to Doomsday. It is situated on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and offers easy access to the Yorkshire Moors, Coast and the Historic City of York. Many stunning walks are available in and around the village, one of the owners fields contains the site of a Norman Motte and Bailey Castle with spectacular views of Rosedale valley, and another field is filled with wild orchids through the summer months. The New Inn at Cropton offers both bar & restaurant meals and is home to the famous Great Yorkshire Brewery, a short stroll from High Farm.
The area provides plenty of opportunity for walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, golf and swimming. North York Moors Steam Railway, located 10 minutes drive away in the Market Town of Pickering, winds its way through the dramatic Newton Dale Valley to the seaside resort of Whitby. For those looking for more adventure Flamingo Land and Go Ape at Dalby Forest are in easy reach.
