Southwaite Cottage, Mallerstang is a beautiful four bedroomed farmhouse sleeping eight in the Westmorland-Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Westmorland Dales stretch to the market towns of Kirkby Stephen, Kirkby Lonsdale and Appleby and encompasses Mallerstang Dale, the Howgill and Orton Fells. Wonderful walking including the ascent of the imposing Wild Boer Fell and superb cycling routes that take in the Buttertubs Pass (from Tour de France fame) are accessible from the front door of Southwaite Cottage with pony trekking close at hand. Or explore the quaint ruins of Pendragon Castle which according to legend was built by Uther Pendragon, Father of King Arthur. Or take a ride on the scenic and historic Settle-Carlisle railway, or hop over into Swaledale or Wensleydale, or visit the northern Lake District, or visit any of the nearby market towns, or simply enjoy the comforts of Southwaite Cottage in this peaceful and idyllic rural setting.

Southwaite Cottage is a rural idyll with stunning views over fields grazing sheep to the tops of the surrounding fells. The cottage has many features to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. There are beautifully stylish rooms decorated and furnished in contemporary style with taste and grace. All the rooms are light and qirt and have a cosy cottage feel, just right for relaxing after a day in the outdoors. There is a stylish and well-equipped kitchen/diner with every convenience, with a large island, to enjoy a coffee and lazy breakfast around or a glass or two in the evening. A ground floor washroom with shower and upstairs you will find four comfortable and relaxing bedrooms (one en-suite) and a family bathroom. The Cottage is surrounded by spacious gardens, which are laid to lawn so perfect for games with the children. Of the market towns in the area Kirkby Stephen is the closest with shops, supermarket, cafes, pubs and eating options.

Kitchen: A stunningly designed open kitchen/dining room with stone flag floors and underfloor heating. Extremely well-equipped kitchen incorporating Electric RangeMaster Cooker with induction hob and fridge/freezer, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher and microwave.  There is a large island with solid stone worktops it’s like a glossy magazine! The dining area has a pine table with 8 chairs and a lovely view over the front garden.. This room is perfect for families and friends to gather together to enjoy each other’s company and great for family celebrations, cook up a fantastic meal using all the very best of local produce and sit down with your loved ones to make tomorrow's fond  memories.
Snug: Go through a door from the kitchen/dinner into the snug, a large room with chairs to sit and relax and read or just ponder and look out over the front lawn and gardens.  A perfect spot after a hard day in the fresh air of the Dales.
Lounge: A light and airy room.  Cosy up on two comfy sofas. You will find stylish furnishings including occasional tables, a large Smart TV and a lovely decorative fireplace with a wood burner stove ensuring that whatever the season your stay at Southwaite Cottage you will be warm and toasty.  There are windows on both sides of this room and the beamed ceiling adds to the country style of this charming room.
WC/Shower: Stylish modern washroom with w/c, washbasin and shower, illuminated mirror and tiled floors w/underfloor heating.

Bedroom 1: A room with a view!King sized bed, two bedside tables with lamps and full-length free-standing mirror, TV, double wardrobe, dressing table w/stool, chair, and a lovely feature fireplace (not used) with vaulted ceiling and exposed roof beams. This is a very large room, plenty of space to spread out and relax. Stylish modern en-suite shower room with shower, wash basin, shaver point, w/c, heated towel rail, illuminated mirror, and tiled floor.
Bedroom 2: A lovely, pretty room with a Queen sized bed, two bedside table with lamps, double wardrobe, dressing table, stool, chair, vaulted ceiling and exposed roof beams.
Bedroom 3: Another good sized room with two twin single beds, bedside table with lamp, wardrobe, dressing table, stool, fireplace (Not used)), with vaulted ceiling and exposed roof beams.
Bedroom 4: A wonderfully cosy room with two twin beds,bedside table and lamp, dressing table, stool, wardrobe, with vaulted ceiling and exposed roof beams - the kids will love it.
Bathroom: Stylish modern bathroom with bath incorporating shower, wash basin, shaver point, toilet, heated towel rail, vaulted ceiling with exposed roof beams and tiled floor.

Garden/Patio: A real feature of Southwaite Cottage are the gardens to front, side and rear with lawns and herbaceous borders and surrounded by dry stone walking. From the gardens are stunning views of the countryside in Mallerstang and of Wild Boar Fell.  Both the front and  rear gardens are laid to lawn and of a good size and great for children to play in an idyllic rural setting.  Relax on the outdoor seating and enjoy the fantastic views.
