If you can tear yourself away from the games room, social spaces and large garden, you’ll find the wild Runswick Bay, with its sandy beach and fabulous coastal footpaths, within striking distance of this spacious getaway, perfect for families and large groups looking to explore the Yorkshire coast.

After a long day exploring your surroundings, the best remedy for tired walking toes and paws is curling up beside the wood burner in the lounge and catching up with the gang as you unwind on the comfy sofas. As the evening draws in, grab your local produce and head into the well-equipped contemporary kitchen/diner to whip up a delicious feast to feed the crowd seated around the rustic wooden dining table. As day turns to dusk, head to the first floor to find three wonderfully presented bedrooms or climb to the second floor to find the final two double bedrooms before retiring for a well-earned rest. Soak up some sunshine by dining alfresco on the patio as children let off some steam on the enclosed lawn or in the games room which features table football and a pool table.

One of the most postcard-perfect locations along the Yorkshire coast, the charming village of Runswick Bay is alive with breathtaking scenery of charming red-roof cottages clinging to the hillside and a sandy beach (less than half a mile away) perfect for rock pooling, paddling and coastal walking. From the doorstep, keen walkers can join the Cleveland Way National Trail to be rewarded with fabulous coastal scenery and breathtaking sea views. Nestled just under 9 miles down the coast, venture to the Gothic coastal haven of Whitby to explore its historic harbour, maritime history, the maze of cobbled, narrow streets and breathtaking views of the ruins of Whitby Abbey.

Having stayed in many cottages in this area - Alby House surpassed our expectations- clean, spacious kitchen, lovely stylish bathroom and shower room -the games room was a big hit as was the log burner when the nights got chilly. Great accommodation for large families. Can highly recommend.

Lovely property and very well equipped. Beds were comfortable and it was good to have the games shed as well for children of all ages! Our one queries was solved very quickly, thank you. Location was very good and there was plenty to do in the surrounding area. Pub was only a few metres away and they served good, well cooked food.

We had a very good holiday and the cottage was very well situated and quiet, although I suspect we were rather noisy for our neighbours since we had a ten month baby and a nearly three year old with us. It was well equipped although I couldnt get the stair gate to work and I couldnt find any cleaning products to allow us to clean the house at the Read moreend of our stay. We liked the den at the end of the garden and the garden was a very safe place to play for the children. The kitchen was thoughtfully laid out and the two bathrooms were lovely - we particularly liked the bath! Hide

This an excellently postioned house in a beautiful area. The house was the best equipped we have ever stayed in from everything you need in a kitchen to a great games room. The owners were amazingly responsive and so helpful with excellent communication. Beware though for beach days it is very steep hill down to the bay!! But so worth it. We enjoyeRead mored fossil hunting, sandcastle building, rock pooling and paddling. Hide

A lovely property, felt the photos didn't do it fill justice. We were 3 generations celebrating a birthday and felt the property catered to all our needs. The garden and games room was great too.
