  • Situated in a quaint ginnel in the heart of the old village of Robin Hood’s Bay
  • Featuring exposed beams, a warming wood burner and an open fire

Property code: OC-R049

A fabulous getaway just for two, this historic cottage benefits from gorgeous views and its own parking space - making it almost unique in ever-popular Robin Hood’s Bay. Set over three floors, and with lots of beautiful period features, it’s a cosy home-from-home at any time of the year.

Exposed beams, stripped floors, lovely old fireplaces and cottage-style stairs add huge character to this quaint 17th century property. An open-plan snug/kitchen/diner takes up the ground floor, featuring a pair of club chairs around a wood burner and a TV, a small dining table, and a Shaker-style kitchen with all the equipment you’ll need to create romantic meals for two. Head to the first floor and you’ll find a lounge with fabulous views of the sea and the cliffs. An open fire is the heart of this room, and there are two sofas for you to stretch out on, as well as a TV and DVD. The sweet shower room is on the same level, while your double bedroom is on the top floor, boasting more gorgeous sea views.

Set on a gorgeous stretch of coastline on the edge of the North York Moors, Robin Hood’s Bay is renowned as a paradise for walkers and nature lovers. After exploring its boutique shops and variety of places to eat, you can stroll along the dog-friendly beach - perhaps looking for fossils - and then book a guided walk which will tell you all about the smuggling history of the village. Stretch your legs along the coast path or inland. It’s 4 miles on the Cleveland Way to the seal colony at Ravenscar, or 6 miles along the Cinder Track to Whitby and its many attractions, while the renowned Falling Foss waterfall (and tea room) is just 6 miles, too.

  • 1 double bedroom
  • 1 shower room with shower and WC
  • Gas hob with electric oven and grill, larder fridge, freezer, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher

Perfect cottage for 2, in a fabulous location, with sea-views from every window. Being right in the heart of the village was special, and it's easy to access the beach and coastal paths. All rooms are well-equipped, and the living room & bedroom are lovely to sit in when the sunlight streams in, and in the cosy evening. This cottage is fantastic and if anything better than described. Apart from in the kitchen there really is a sea view from every window. Warm, comfortable, well equipped, amazing location, nothing not to like. Parking space is a huge bonus, my Polo had room to spare and the reverse back out is not that scary. Cliff Head is a lovely cozy cottage. You have everything you need and it is well equipped and very clean. It has a massive advantage of having its own parking space too, which is brilliant, although I would take a cover, as the seagulls make quite a mess on your car. The lounge is on the first floor, and it is lovely to sit in front of the open Read morefire, and look out of the windows each side of the chimney breast out onto the open sea. It is quite small, and you need to watch your head as you climb the stairs if you are fairly tall, but this is not a complaint at all, it is lovely to be able to stay in such a lovely old characterful cottage. Highly recommend. Hide

Pleasant and well-equipped cottage, in an ideal location. So much to see and do in and around Robin Hoods Bay. The parking space wasn't quite the asset as anticipated, as the approach road was often blocked by other cars, and seagulls nesting on the cottage roof had great fun using our car as target practice.

Lovely, cosy cottage with everything we needed in the most perfect location and stunning sea views. Bonus parking spot too - extremely rare in RBH but the seagulls enjoyed using the car as target practice!! (...but that should be expected being literally 12ft from the seawall!!) The cottage was very well equipped, always felt very warm even on aRead more couple of very wet, cool days. The shower was excellent (always good before and after long days out and about). Bonus to have good Wifi and TV reception too. We ate pizza at the Smugglers which was fresh and delicious and steak at Brambles Bistro which was excellent - the Bordelaise sauce was to die for!! The cottage is great for 2 people and a small dog - we would highly recommend it but would advise that it is a very cosy and old cottage and therefore not necessarily built for tall people or those that may struggle with stairs. Also need to be a bit brave driving through the tight village roads and reversing down the hill from the parking bay. Be aware that other drivers will also be navigating or parking on the same roads so patience is a must! We hope to return one day as this is a great place to stay and enjoy everything that Robin Hoods Bay has to offer. Hide

Overall the cottage was very good. The upstairs lounge was particularly nice. The location is very good. There are a few areas that are a little tired - varnished table/work tops tend to get a bit sticky after cleaning, the bathroom cabinet door was very loose, shower caddy fell off, bathroom sink tap leaked (needs a new washer). One negative (not Read morethe fault of the owner) is in the car parking that is directly under a chimney which is a seagull perch. After less than two days the car was such a mess that it was impossible to see through the screen. We werent anticipating this so had very limited materials with which to clean the car for safe driving - advice beforehand and provision of a bucket to swill/wipe down the car would help. Hide
