Have a sumptuous stay at this impressive stone house right at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales town of Hawes. Sleeping five guests, the three-bedroom retreat offers accommodation across three storeys and has rooms that look out towards the bridge and waterfall. It welcomes four-legged friends and comes with a wood burner for cosy evenings in and an outdoor seating area for summer days.

Let yourselves into the handsome house to find characterful accommodation with a wealth of original charm and an exquisite finish throughout. Take the stairs up to the first floor to your living space, which includes a kitchen/diner and a lounge, both with beamed ceilings. Whip up hearty Yorkshire feasts in the kitchen/diner, which takes in views out towards the water. Light the wood burner in the lounge then settle down in here in front of the Smart TV or gaze out towards the rushing waterfall. The remaining two bedrooms, a king-size and a single, are on the top floor, together with the family bathroom. All the bedrooms have Smart TVs. Carry your morning coffee out into the courtyard in front of the property on warm days. There is parking at the property for one car.

Stroll out through Hawes to walk by the river, enjoy the independent shops and dine out. Visit the Dales Countryside Museum and the Wensleydale Creamery while you are here. Have a day out to the famous Aysgarth Falls, 10 miles away, and also see the smaller waterfall of Cotter Force, 2.5 miles from your base. Chapel Cottage is comfortable, cosy well presented and super clean.Previous guests mention the comfortable beds; they certainly are! It is very well equipped and we loved the quirky touches. Perfect location for the lovely village of Hawes A few steps from the bridge and waterfall which has to be the most photographed spot in the village!

A very cosy well appointed cottage with easy access to the town and to great walks. Breakfast baps at the Creamery made for a very tasty breakfast on our last day.

This is a great house for visiting the Yorkshire Dales, very centrally located and enough activities within walking distance to occupy a wet day. Hawes has plenty of traditional cafes and some excellent pubs. The scenery around the town is absolutely stunning and we met very few people when we went out walking in the hills, even in August.

Not sure who we could recommend you to. There were a few cobweb issues, particularly in the ground floor bedroom. Not a big problem. Also not a big problem, but it did not appear that the TVs were capable of receiving digital signal.

Chapel House was very clean, comfortable ( with heating coming on from 8a.m. every morning) and full of character. The rooms were spacious but the downstairs ensuite was too small, leading to problems of damp in that downstairs bedroom. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was extremely well- equipped for self- catering cooking. AlthoRead moreugh we were very centrally situated in Hawes and convenient for the shop it was very quiet in the evenings. Overall, a very good cottage for people who have no problem going up flights of stairs. The arrangement of rooms is ideal for some privacy. Hide

Very close to amenities including the social club across the road on the bridge where they were very friendly. Plenty of room and nice decor. Comfortable beds, too. As the weather was hot we appreciated being in a house with thick walls! It was a shame there was no garden, but we were out most days anyway.
