This characterful two-storey property in a secluded location on the edge of a wooded valley is perfect for families or friends looking for a peaceful holiday within the North York Moors National Park. The moorland village of Hutton-le-Hole (1.5 miles) is within easy walking distance, and footpaths and bridleways extend from the property to the neighbouring villages of Appleton-le-Moors (3.5 miles) and Gillamoor (4 miles). A great location for walkers and cyclists, a stay in the quaint village of Hutton-le-Hole is like stepping back in time and a chance to slow down.
The cottage is a converted barn and retains a great deal of its old character and charm with exposed beams and feature stonework. Tastefully decorated to embrace its country heritage, it has whitewashed walls and some bold splashes of colour in the comfortable furnishings. Downstairs is a kitchen/diner with everything you need to whip up some family favourites. There is a single bedroom and a shower room on the ground floor. Six steps lead up to the beautiful lounge with plenty of comfortable chairs to unwind after a day of exploring. Pop a log on the wood burner on cooler evenings and watch TV. A further six steps take you to the first floor, where you’ll find two bedrooms: a king-size and a single. Enjoy breakfast or dinner on the patio area complete with a table and chairs.
The kids will love a day out at Flamingo Land Resort (12 miles) with its theme park and zoo, while the moors are home to a rich history and plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling. Head to Pickering (7.5 miles), take the North York Moors Railway through spectacular scenery and spend the day at the seaside in Whitby. Walkers should head to Helmsley (8 miles), where you can join the Cleveland Way to take a seven-mile loop passing Rievaulx Abbey.
