Just minutes from the beach, shops and restaurants of Robin Hood’s Bay, this snug cottage is set in the heart of the picturesque old village. Ideal for a couple, and sleeping up to four, it’s a historic property that’s been lovingly restored to offer a carefully designed retreat from the everyday world.
This charming getaway is accessed via a small front yard, and then you’ll find a kitchen/diner, lounge and bathroom all on the ground floor. The slim kitchen floorplan cleverly allows space for cooking facilities, a fridge with icebox and plenty of cupboards and worktop space, with a breakfast bar and four stools at one end where you can have your meals. The lounge has a beamed ceiling and ornate fireplace surrounding a flame-effect electric fire - a lovely place in which to snuggle on colder evenings, with four chairs and a Smart TV/DVD for entertainment. Upstairs, the main bedroom is an elegant double with a TV/DVD, and the second bedroom has a single bed with a pull-out bed beneath, plus a TV and an en-suite shower in an alcove.
The cottage is an ideal base from which to walk or cycle the stunning Jurrasic coastline - you can stroll the beach looking for fossils, and then head to the picturesque cove known as Boggle Hole, about 0.5 miles. Hike the coast path - perhaps as far as Ravenscar and its seal colony, 4 miles; go inland to the Falling Foss waterfall, 6 miles; or stride out along the Cinder Track, which takes you all the way to Whitby (6 miles) and its many attractions. For a change, have a go at off-road driving or enjoy a day out in Scarborough, 16 miles, where there’s a water park and a sea life centre.
