  • Full of character and ideal for a couple or a small family

Property code: OC-R563

Just minutes from the beach, shops and restaurants of Robin Hood’s Bay, this snug cottage is set in the heart of the picturesque old village. Ideal for a couple, and sleeping up to four, it’s a historic property that’s been lovingly restored to offer a carefully designed retreat from the everyday world.

This charming getaway is accessed via a small front yard, and then you’ll find a kitchen/diner, lounge and bathroom all on the ground floor. The slim kitchen floorplan cleverly allows space for cooking facilities, a fridge with icebox and plenty of cupboards and worktop space, with a breakfast bar and four stools at one end where you can have your meals. The lounge has a beamed ceiling and ornate fireplace surrounding a flame-effect electric fire - a lovely place in which to snuggle on colder evenings, with four chairs and a Smart TV/DVD for entertainment. Upstairs, the main bedroom is an elegant double with a TV/DVD, and the second bedroom has a single bed with a pull-out bed beneath, plus a TV and an en-suite shower in an alcove.

The cottage is an ideal base from which to walk or cycle the stunning Jurrasic coastline - you can stroll the beach looking for fossils, and then head to the picturesque cove known as Boggle Hole, about 0.5 miles. Hike the coast path - perhaps as far as Ravenscar and its seal colony, 4 miles; go inland to the Falling Foss waterfall, 6 miles; or stride out along the Cinder Track, which takes you all the way to Whitby (6 miles) and its many attractions. For a change, have a go at off-road driving or enjoy a day out in Scarborough, 16 miles, where there’s a water park and a sea life centre.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double and 1 single (with extra pull-out single bed)
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 family bathroom, with bath and WC and 1 shower in an alcove in a bedroom
  • Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge with ice box
  • Smart TV with DVD in lounge, TV/DVD and TV in bedrooms
  • Towels not included
  • Mobile phone signal is weak
  • Shop, pub and beach 150 metres
  • Two public car parks in Upper Bay- one opposite Victoria Hotel and one opposite Grosvenor Hotel
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • Sorry, no dogs allowed

Robin Hoods Bay is a lovely place to spend a few days. There is a lovely feel about the place with all its lovely cottages along quaint streets and passages. This particular cottage is priced a bit too high for its amenities and decor. It has been cheaply and it seems hastily decorated to be rented out. It is not up to standard decorating wise Read more(unfinished tatty paintwork) to be let out. Hide

Minstead Cottage is in a great location in the heart of Robin Hoods Bay, set on a very pretty row. We enjoyed our stay here and particularly liked the fact that it is a traditional fishermans cottage with a lot of history!

Really happy with the property and clear communication from company throughout about check in etc. There were a few minor niggles with the property- bedroom door handles falling off and door sticking (we wedged it open at night for fear of getting trapped in) and other doors with no proper closing fittings so had to wedge at night to keep draughts Read moreout. Also very cold on arrival so took nearly 24 hours to heat the house through, and fire not working throughout visit (although owner helpfully sent out caretaker to bleed radiator for us). Very well equipped unlike previously reviews suggested, beds lovely and comfortable. Perfect location and would definitely return in future. Hide
