This characterful cottage boasts views of Whitby Abbey and is just 200 metres from the town’s bustling harbour. The property sleeps seven guests and has large social spaces for entertaining. You’ll have an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants on your doorstep, and nearby attractions include the Captain Cook Memorial Museum and wildlife-watching boat trips from the harbour (both within 500 metres).
The cottage has been lovingly renovated to combine original features with contemporary creature comforts. Enter via the side of the cottage, and into a stylish, pastel-coloured kitchen/diner, where you can prepare tasty meals to share at the elegant dining table. Head through to the cosy lounge, where exposed beams adorn the ceiling, and an original fireplace houses a roaring wood burner. Sink into the vibrant sofas for a relaxing evening watching the TV/DVD. Cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor and three bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room. A family shower room completes this floor. The remaining bedroom – a twin – is set in the eaves on the second floor and enjoys far-reaching views across the town. There is no outside space with the property, but with the harbour close by, you’ll have plenty of options when it comes to picturesque evening strolls.
Wander through Whitby’s cobbled streets, popping in and out of galleries and gift shops, looking for souvenirs from your holiday. The town has a fantastic array of pubs, cafes, and restaurants, serving delicious local produce. You’ll also find several fish and chip shops, and a smokehouse selling kippers – the perfect supper after a day at the beach. Whitby Abbey, perched high on the headland, is said to have inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Climb the iconic 199 steps to explore the ruins and enjoy the magnificent views across the town and out to sea.
