An enticing period retreat nestled in exquisite grounds, this enchanting Yorkshire holiday home encompasses a wealth of character and elegance. Dating back to 1800, the two-bedroom cottage, which sleeps four guests, was originally the butler’s home for a grand Gargrave house. Situated 4 miles from Skipton, with its many independent shops, pubs and restaurants, it is just over 0.5 miles from the fringes of the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. Head out on exhilarating walks and cycle rides. Stroll alongside the picturesque River Aire or the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, looking for wildlife and watching the boats drift by. Follow the towpath all the way into Skipton if you wish. Plan a day out to Malham while you are here and take time to see the famous limestone cove and glacial lake. Visit Janet’s Foss Waterfall and stroll through Gordale Scar, both 8 miles from the cottage.

Wander inside to find accommodation that still presents an abundance of original charm and that has been finished with flair and an eye for interior design. Discover rooms with high ceilings and period features, such as original window shutters, yet also offering the level of comfort required for modern-day living. Make your way into the house via the kitchen, where you can unpack and put the kettle on. Head through to the lounge/diner to dine at the farmhouse-style wooden table. When you’re ready to sit down for the evening, light the wood burner, relax on the plump sofa and look for your favourite shows on the Smart TV. There is also a handy boot room downstairs where you can leave shoes and hang your coats. As each day away draws to a close, make your way up to the first floor, where your bedrooms and bathroom await. The chic bathroom boasts both a walk-in shower and a freestanding bath where you can soak to your heart’s content. The bedrooms, an impressive king-size with excellent storage, and a delightful twin room with an armchair for quiet reading, both promise delightful spaces to sleep.

Step out into the mature grounds at every opportunity. Savour the privacy of your own enclosed garden, where your four-legged friend and any children will enjoy racing about. Cook out on the BBQ and dine at the picnic table. Guests are also very welcome to enjoy the owner's adjacent front garden. There is private, off-road parking here for two cars.
