An expansive village green sits at the heart of North Newbald – with many cycle paths and lovely pubs to one corner, it’s a charming community hub – a perfect setting for this handsome holiday home. The village sits at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds and is just 4 miles from Market Weighton, where you can stock up on self-catering supplies and explore Londesborough Park, a pleasant spot along the Wolds Way National Trail. Further afield, York (24 miles) is famous for its magnificent Minster, city walls and cobbled lanes – step back in time with visits to the Jorvik Viking Centre, The Shambles, the Railway Museum and Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms. Stop off at Beverley (9 miles) to see the 13th-century Minster, widely regarded as one of Europe’s finest Gothic churches, and enjoy the Saturday markets, the racecourse, and the many places available to eat and drink.
The lovely porch area has plenty of room to take off muddy boots and coats; beyond, the hallway leads to your first reception room – a quiet space at the front of the house with comfortable sofas arranged before a Smart TV and wood burner. The bar area is sure to be a hive of social activity; gather for drinks before heading into the large kitchen diner, where the breakfast island is complemented by a dining suite big enough to seat everyone in the house. After dinner, the adjacent cinema/games room makes a great place to unwind – complete with a very large Smart TV and a games table, which can host air hockey, pool, or table tennis, and its seating can be cleared to make space for yoga and meditation. When it’s time to sleep, the ground-floor features a double bedroom with its own en-suite shower room. Stairs close to the cinema/games room lead up to a super-king-size bedroom and bathroom, while a separate staircase at the front of the house gives access to three further bedrooms: two family-friendly suites with both a super-king-size zip-and-link bed (can be made up as 3ft twins on request) and a single sofa bed, and one king-size room.
Generously proportioned, the private garden has outside seating and – for the ultimate in laid-back luxury – a hot tub. There’s space to park three cars at the back of the property, and the two pubs opposite offer an authentic taste of local life.
