This property is in a convenient location for getting around Whitby. Parking is difficult on the road and so we used a car park and walked back. The stairs are steep and there are a lot of them. There are about 25 steps up from the road and then a further 10 or so up to the house. The house has a lot of amenities, like tvs in each room. ThRead moreere is a very good shower but only 1 bathroom. We were unsure about the bins and left the rubbish out but it was not collected. I would not describe this as luxury but it was a good base. The Grace Escape is a wonderful base for a relaxing family holiday by the sea. We have been to Whitby a couple of times before so we were prepared for problems with parking anywhere near our accommodation but we were lucky enough to find on-road parking fairly close by. The Grace Escape was really well equipped for a self catering holiday althoRead moreugh it could do with some oven proof dishes (minor point but worth noting as we do like to cook family meals when we're away). There is very little cupboard space for food etc - maybe one of the two cupboards full of glasses could be left empty. Beds and bedding were lovely and comfy but ceiling height entering the kids bedroom on the 3rd floor is VERY low which was a bit of an issue for my 6' teenage son, but he had mastered it by the end of the week! The property details say that there is no central heating so we went prepared with blankets etc but central heating has now been installed and the house was lovely and warm. The views of the harbour from all the rooms were wonderful and the location was perfect - close to town but away from the main hustle and bustle and we would definitely recommend. Treats for both us and our dog on arrival were also a lovely touch ?? Hide

We really enjoyed our visit, beds were extremely comfy and so many stairs for a great workout. In a very convenient spot for lots of activities. Views of the harbour were perfect. Thank you so much for an amazing stay.

All good but flagging up lack of parking would be helpful. I have arthritis and use a walking stick so a bit tricky getting up and down from house with bags/shopping. Handrails by side of pub okay but not brilliant. Front door quite hard to open/close, ditto key for chubb

It could just be us, but we didn't realise it was a 4 storey property and just how many stairs to each floor there were in the cottage. We must've missed something. Overall a great place to stay. Downstairs toilet was obviously out of use due to the terrible smell of damp which was overpowering any time I did a washing. I know this was going to be Read moredealt with after we left. Only other downside was the night we planned mashed potatoes and there was no masher. However, the overall quality of the place was very good and we all had an enjoyable stay Hide

It was a great property to stay in. It would have been helpful to know the house was arranged over 4 floors, and that from the pavement there are 34 steps upto the property before you enter. I felt it was lacking cupboard space for food, as it is a self catering property that would have been useful.
