A place to get away from it all, this peaceful country cottage lies on the fringes of the Peak District and offers a wonderful sense of escapism. With views stretching out across the meadows and Derbyshire landscape beyond, it’s a beautiful spot to unwind in the hilltop village of Hundall. Whether you’re spending quality time with family and friends in the lovely garden or pampering yourself in the freestanding bath, you can truly slow down here.

Inside, exposed stone walls and wooden beams showcase the property’s original features, while soft, calming tones and thoughtful details create an atmosphere that feels both relaxed and refined. In the dining room, a decorative fireplace provides an attractive focal point when you’re gathering for mealtimes, while the lounge offers a cosier space, warmed by the glow of the wood burner after frosty countryside walks from the doorstep. A ground-floor wet room is also handy following days outdoors. Upstairs, three garden-inspired bedrooms offer comfortable spaces to recharge ahead of a new day of adventure. Outside, take in your surroundings with a morning coffee, sizzling BBQ or evening drink as the light begins to fade.

Get out into the fresh air with walks through woodland and open moorland at Blacka Moor (10 miles) nature reserve, where you might spot red deer, cuckoos and even rare bumblebees. Curbar Edge (11 miles) has some of the most breathtaking views in the Peak District, stretching out across the Chatsworth estate (14 miles), which is itself a beautiful place to visit. Explore the majestic state rooms, potter around the gardens and pick up a locally sourced treat or two from the farm shop.

Fabulous. Immaculately clean, really comfy beds, great shower, lovely gentle colour scheme. We used this cottage to look after our little grandson while his parents were working & it felt like a real home. It means a lot to meet the owner, Garry was very welcoming and it was great to learn a little about the history of the house and how hard he & hRead moreis family have worked to transform it so sensitively. We very much hope to stay here again. Hide
