Set within the stunning Nidderdale National Landscape, the shepherd’s hut is tucked away in a peaceful, private setting surrounded by open countryside, yet lies less than a mile from the vibrant market town of Otley. Guests can enjoy riverside strolls along the Wharfe, explore Otley Chevin Country Park for panoramic views, or wander the town’s independent shops, cafes, and traditional pubs. The area is a haven for walkers and cyclists, with scenic trails straight from the door, and rolling Yorkshire landscapes all around. Nearby highlights include Bolton Abbey (13 miles), Ilkley (6 miles), Brimham Rocks (14 miles), and the elegant spa town of Harrogate (11 miles).

This property lies on the owner’s smallholding and guests are welcome to see the resident donkeys. Step inside from the decking, up a few steps, and into a beautifully designed open plan space flooded with light. Double doors and floor to ceiling windows frame the stunning countryside views, bringing the outdoors in. The cosy lounge area invites you to relax in front of the Smart TV, while the small dining table for two and well equipped kitchen make it easy to enjoy leisurely meals together. To the right, a sumptuous double bed awaits, complete with plush robes and slippers for an added touch of indulgence. Completing the interior is a stylish, contemporary shower room, thoughtfully finished for comfort and ease.

Outside, the setting is simply spectacular. The hut is surrounded by breathtaking views, with a spacious decking area offering comfortable seating and a Ninja BBQ/air fryer, perfect for dining alfresco. Beyond the decking lies a fully enclosed, private garden with a picnic bench, ideal for lazy afternoons. Guests also enjoy complimentary use of a sauna (housed in a horsebox). This also includes a cold-water outdoor shower, and a plunge pool. These facilities lie just the other side of the gate but can’t be seen from the hut, so privacy is assured. Booking this needs to be arranged directly with the owner as they also allow local, non-guests to use them.

We had an absolutely fantastic weekend. The Spinney is pure luxury and easy to find. We had a wonderfully warm and friendly welcome from Michelle after fabulous communication regarding arrival times. She showed us around, explaining where everything was and how things worked. The welcome pack was perfect with milk, orange juice , tea, coffee sugarRead more, bread, butter, eggs from their chickens, which were delicious soft boiled, to list a few. We had everything we could need. The hot tub was the icing on the cake with robes and sliders. The view was lovely with the sun on the decking most of the day. We had blankets for outdoors so we could sit out later making the most of the peace and quiet. We enjoyed watching the areoplanes take off during the day from nearby Leeds Bradford Airport. We went shopping in Otley. There was a market on Saturday with fruit and veg stalls. With plenty of places to eat and drink. The donkeys, goats, chickens and cockerel were frequent visitors to the field infront, they loved the ginger biscuits, especially the goats who would stick then heads through the fence licking their lips. The bed was really comfy and I had the best two nights sleep in a long time. We will definitely be returning. Hide

A beautiful shepherd's hut, in a lovely setting with excellent rural views. The friendly goats, donkeys and hens come right up to decking. They love carrots!! The jacuzzi was an unexpected bonus. Brilliant for the muscles after a day walking (and there are plenty of walks nearby). Although a lovely rural position, still only a 20 minute stroll inRead moreto Otley for shops, restaurants, coffee shops etc. Michelle is an excellent host, and always helpful.
