The cottage lies at 1000' above sea level on a limestone ridge; a short walk or car ride away across common land brings you to a 360 degree view point encompassing the Howgill Fells in the south, through the eastern Lake District Fells, to Blencathra, the Scottish border on a clear day and to the Eden valley fringed by the high Pennines. Venture 3 miles to find yourselves on the fringes of the splendid Lake District National Park. Head 12.5 miles to charming Pooley Bridge to board a steamer on Ullswater, then hop off at Aira Force to see the spectacular 20-metre waterfall. Discover this area on foot too by following the 20-mile Ullswater Way. For a change of scenery from slate to limestone, the Westmorland Dales extension of the Yorkshire Dales National Park begins just 1/4 mile from the cottage at plantation woodland , home to red squirrels. The newly designated Coast to Coast long distance footpath also passes within 1.5 miles. Head into Appleby -in Westmorland (9.5 miles), Penrith (11.5 miles), Kirkby Stephen (17 miles) or Keswick (31 miles) to potter in the shops and dine out.

Step into the beautifully finished, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its high vaulted ceiling, wooden floor and exposed stone and timberwork. Appreciate the airy ambience, throwing open the sliding doors on fine days or lighting the wood burner when it is chilly. Kick back on the sofa to absorb the wonderful countryside views or pick up the remote control to the Smart TV and search for a good film to watch. The kitchen has been designed to provide you with everything you need to help you cater for yourselves, using your own ingredients, during your stay. A handy utility room, with a WC, encompasses additional appliances. When stars begin to appear in the clear night sky, wander through to your sumptuous super-king-size bedroom. Wallow in a steaming bubble bath or indulge in a refreshing shower in the chic bathroom.

Wander out into the fresh air of the enclosed garden on bright spring and summer days. Relax with a cup of tea or enjoy a romantic dinner for two at the table outside on balmy evenings. There is private parking for two cars and space to store bikes.
