An enchanting barn conversion in a pretty hamlet just 3 miles from Grassington, one of many picturesque villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The dog-friendly barn features a spacious lounge, an inviting kitchen/diner and an attractive enclosed garden. With easy access to the Dales Way and market towns like Skipton, it is the perfect base for an active family or group keen to explore the area’s cultural, historical and natural attractions.

The two-storey stone cottage stands in lush green surroundings in Cracoe, a village at the southern end of the national park. It blends breathtaking character and modern style seamlessly, with exposed beams, fireplaces and stone walls surrounding characterful soft furnishings with splashes of colour. The lounge has a wood burner, hardwood flooring and comfortable seating that glows with natural light. The kitchen/diner is only a couple of pawprints around the corner and offers a comfortable eating area at one end, plenty of work surface space at the other and ample garden views in between. There are four thoughtfully arranged bedrooms standing off the first-floor landing, an area dominated by an imposing chandelier that hangs from the exposed beams. The en-suite king-size bedroom has plenty of storage space, the two king-size bedrooms have a character of their own, while the twin bedroom is ideal for youngsters. The enclosed garden at the rear of the barn comprises a large lawn area next to a patio area, with a table, seating, a BBQ and a firepit all included.

The centre of Cracoe (0.5 miles) has a cafe and a local pub, and the local area is riddled with footpaths and cycle trails. Grassington (3 miles) is a key stop-off point for the Dales Way, Malham Cove’s stunning rock formations are only 8 miles away, while Skipton Castle and Bolton Abbey – a must for history lovers – are both within 12 miles.

Shiers Barn was very comfortable and well equipped. It was exactly as pictured and described on the website. It's in a convenient location for exploration of Wharfedale and further afield.

We had a lovely stay at Shiers Barn. We loved the relaxing view from the patio windows, it was really relaxing watching the weather and the light changes. The house receives lots of natural light and is a really uplifting place to be. Lots of thoughtful touches - artworks and toys and games for the children, much appreciated. This is a lovely cottage and is very cosy especially when the fire is lit in the evenings. The welcome packs were a lovely touch, especially the dog towels and treats and my little girl enjoyed the Easter egg hunt with the little treats provided. The house is nicely laid out with lots of kitchen essentials and the sliding doors to the garden are grRead moreeat in nice weather. Lots of toys to keep children entertained as well as lots of games and books and my little girl especially enjoyed the mud kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the original artworks were a nice touch. I will say that it is not the best house if anyone with infirmities is planning to go as there are steps to the front door both inside and out and the garden is sloped and can get quite boggy when its wet. There is plenty of parking at the end of the garden but only space for a small car at the front of the house so we didnt use this space. The house is an end terrace NOT detached and the garden is not completely secure as the fencing between this cottage and the neighbours is quite flimsy (it moves if you push against it) and there was a section missing and the wall is quite low in places so if your dogs are prone to wandering they will need to be closely supervised. It is also worth noting that a public footpath runs next to the house which leads down to some farm buildings and a caravan park. There is a cafe and a lovely pub within walking distance which are both dog friendly and the food was tasty and the service friendly. Overall a lovely place but maybe better for the more active and dogs that are a bit more chill. Hide

Lovely barn conversion with ample parking and huge garden that only one of the dogs eventually figured a way out of (she's a tall lurcher and jumped the wall - most dogs wouldn't bother!). saw hedgehogs and deer in the early hours. very nicely converted, very well equipped.
