From this cosy home with gasp-worthy valley views through its oversized windows, you can soak Yorkshire up from the comfort of your sofa. It’s one of two elegant converted stables, with many historical features faithfully restored. You’ll have a friendly pub serving up tasty fare just 200 metres away in Aislaby. A little further away lies the vibrant seaside town of Whitby (3.5 miles), with its stunning sandy beach, museum and abbey ruins, accessible via 199 steps. With room for six guests, this charming home is ideal for a family or a group of friends.

The cottage’s cosy interior features lovely ceiling beams and plenty of wooden fittings, including its elegant door and window surrounds. A grey and yellow colour scheme in the lounge makes the place look appealing and cheerful, especially with those wow-factor vistas. The kitchen/dining room has a range-style cooker to inspire keen chefs, and also benefits from gorgeous views out of its large windows. From here, step out onto a small, decked terrace at the front that’s perfect for enjoying a sundowner. You’ll also have shared access to the enclosed courtyard garden where you can sizzle up a BBQ or stretch out on the sun beds provided. A path takes you down to the owner’s meadow, where you’re welcome to enjoy the space.

The house is located in the heart of the North York Moors, so it’s an ideal starting point for long and short trails through stunning countryside. Hiking enthusiasts can try out routes around Glaisdale, Egton Bridge and Grosmont (all within 10 miles) each offering gorgeous views of the Esk Valley. In Whitby, enjoy a round of golf or sample some local seafood at one of many excellent eateries. Near Larpool Viaduct (4 miles), on the edge of Whitby, you can also join the Cinder Track, a 22-mile walkable and cyclable route leading to Scarborough via a former railway line.

The cottage has good range of modern kitchen equipment and has comfortable furniture. It is dominated by the beautiful views of the county side from lounge and 1st floor bedroom. When we visited it was very quiet and peaceful. We hope to return may be next year.
