One of a group of properties, this quirky first-floor apartment in the quiet village of Newton-on-Rawcliffe makes the ideal base for exploring North Yorkshire. With a double bedroom and a twin, it’s perfect for families plus their furry family member, and there’s heaps to do nearby, with stunning walks on your doorstep, and a shared indoor sauna, hot tub and pool, and table tennis table to enjoy.

The welcoming converted barn has wooden beams, relaxed styling, and comfortable furniture throughout. Go up the steps to the light and bright open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner where you’ll find a Smart TV and sofas, a stylish dining table and chairs for sociable mealtimes, and a cosy kitchen with everything you need to self-cater, including a dishwasher. There are laundry facilities in the shared laundry room too. Get a great night’s sleep in the two pretty bedrooms (a double bedroom, and a twin room, both with storage for your holiday outfits), and there’s also a family bathroom with shower over corner bath. Heading outside, you have used of your own enclosed garden or there’s a large, shared garden where you can relax on the bench next to the pretty pond and bridge. Go swimming in the indoor pool, then relax in the sauna and hot tub, or challenge each other to a game of table tennis.

Head out for walks through the neighbouring countryside and explore miles and miles of footpaths in the North York Moors, which is right on your doorstep. Combine a good walk with a trip on the North York Moors Railway, with stations at Pickering (5 miles) and Levisham (3 miles). For a thrilling day out, have a go on the zip wires at Dalby Forest (17 miles) and spend the day at the seaside with Whitby (18.5 miles), Scarborough (22.5 miles) and Robin Hood’s Bay (23 miles) all nearby.

  • Pub is a short walk away (check for opening times and if serving food) and shop 5 miles
  • Please note, this property is not suitable for parties due to being in a residential area and the owners kindly request that you consider the neighbours by keeping the noise down outside after 10pm.
  • Property is accessed by quite steep stone steps
  • Please note, there are head-level beams in the twin bedroom
  • Infants are included within the maximum occupancy for this property. For safety and insurance reasons, the total number of guest (including infants) must not exceed the advertised sleep capacity.
  • Only guests name on the booking are permitted to stay at the property and use the on-leisure suite as capacity is limited due to shared facilities

Lovely spot and cosy cottage. Nice to have the pool facilities and the owners were very helpful when needed. A great base to explore the area for our young family.

Really nice cottage. Lovely views from Granary. Water garden very pleasant for a stroll around. Liked the village and the drive to Goathland over the moors. Would recommend the cottages.

Amazing location in a pretty village, this small cottage has great views. Good facilities for kids with swimming pool, table tennis, pool table, small garden, plus local childrens playground just a 5 minute stroll down the road. There is a pub next door but they dont serve food which was a shame. We had a couple of gripes about hot water and a creaRead moreky bed but it was generally a nice place to stay and a good base to explore the area. Hide

Really lovely place to stay facilities fantastic. Lovely friendly people in the pub. Few cobwebs otherwise would have given 5 stars on cleaning however your staying in an old cottage so to expected .was not an issue. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be back. Thankyou

We had a fantastic stay in The Granary at Mels cottages, central to lots of places of interest. A welcome hamper gave that perfect personal touch and really made you feel appreciated. Lovely accommodation set in a peaceful area which resulted in a relaxing break. Great swimming facilities and hot tub. Outdoor area for pool and table tennis was a great for entertaining the kids. A good base for exploring North Yorkshire. Would recommend to family friends.
