The charming market town sits on the River Swale, offering wonderful opportunities for riverside walks and a series of lovely waterfalls, all walkable from the town centre. You’re welcome to bring up to three dogs, who’ll love leading the way on long walks in the Dales or Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (15 miles).
Laid out over three floors, the accommodation offers ample space for bigger groups. The decor is warm and welcoming, with light-coloured walls, tasteful artwork, and splashes of uplifting colour in cushions and curtains. There are two lounges so your group can spread out comfortably, along with a pleasant dining area for meals and board games. In the kitchen, make yourself a coffee with the Dolce Gusto machine then take it outside to enjoy it on the south-facing patio, a good-sized space where you can dine alfresco in good weather.
You’ll have shops, pubs and restaurants within a 400-metre radius so you can easily eat out locally when you don’t feel like cooking. When you do, a twice-weekly market on Wednesdays and Saturdays is wonderful for picking up local produce. You may choose to enjoy a quiet round of golf at Richmond’s course (0.5 miles) or, further afield, head into the national park to discover spots like Bolton Castle (12 miles) and Aysgarth Falls (15 miles).
