Property code: OC-92939

A cosy barn conversion set on a working farm just 3.5 miles from Chop Gate, one of the many charming villages found across the North York Moors National Park. Blessed with a spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a south-facing garden and easy access to walking and cycling routes, this dog-friendly barn is the ideal bolthole for a couple seeking a romantic getaway to the countryside.

The 200-year-old stone barn is surrounded by green fields set against a backdrop of wooded hills and endless skies. Its attractive exterior, which is festooned with shrubbery, lawns and gravel areas, is a beautiful introduction to its bright and airy interior, which is a blend of period features and contemporary colours. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a wonderful place to unwind, the hard flooring beneath its exposed wooden beams scattered with quirky soft furnishings that glow in the natural light pouring in through numerous windows. At one end, comfortable sofas are arranged around a wood burner, while the dining table and chairs are only a few pawprints from ample work surfaces and storage space. The en-suite king-size bedroom next door is equally spacious and rustic, with its high ceiling and exposed stone walls around the bed instantly catching the eye. The south-facing lawn garden at the front of the barn is an attractive space in its own right, with far-reaching country views best absorbed from the comfortable seating on the gravel.

The area surrounding the farm is brimming with wildlife, rivers and woodlands, and numerous pubs and restaurants in the countryside surrounding Chop Gate (3.5 miles). There is also plenty to occupy walkers with a love of history and nature: Rievaulx Abbey and the market town of Helmsley (both within 10 miles) are on the Cleveland Way, while Cod Beck Reservoir and Roseberry Topping are both within 15 miles.

We had a really lovely week in the cottage, the weather was beautiful so we really enjoyed the south facing garden with the stunning views of the dale. A great location for branching out and exploring the area. The accommodation was well appointed and a generous welcome pack left for us which also included a nice treat for our dog. The garden wasRead more extremely secure which gave piece of mind when letting our dog out. Sandra and Hans have thought of everything and left very comprehensive working instructions for all of the appliances etc and the cottage welcome folder was full of useful information, Although being on a working farm we were afforded our privacy, but we did enjoy watching the farm animals come and go about their business. Book it, you will not be disappointed! Hide

Had a lovely stay at this cottage. It was comfortable and lovely and warm. The little touches from the owners were great - the little welcome pack with tea and coffee, a fully made up log fire and basket of lots, making sure there was salt and pepper, dog bowls and poo bags, enough toilet paper for the whole stay and lots of tissue boxes!
