Property code: OC-S39029

Tucked into the centre of Askrigg in the Yorkshire Dales, this charming stone cottage makes an excellent base for couples or solo travellers keen to explore one of England’s most scenic national parks. Bursting with character, the house combines rustic charm with contemporary comfort and an enclosed, private garden.

Inside, the cottage centres around a welcoming open-plan living, kitchen and dining area, with exposed ceiling beams. A generous corner sofa forms the heart of the lounge, set up for unwinding after days in the Dales, with a TV for evening entertainment. Light streams in through multiple windows, while colourful soft furnishings pop against the neutral backdrop. The compact kitchen sits just behind the seating area and comes well equipped for self-catering, with a breakfast bar and stools providing a casual dining spot. Upstairs, the bathroom includes a jacuzzi bath for easing tired legs after long walks. The double bedroom sits on this level too, offering rooftop views towards open countryside and useful storage for longer stays. From the bedroom, a set of stairs leads down to the rear garden. Outside, there is a fully enclosed lawn with a paved seating area, making a pleasant setting for afternoon tea or evening meals outdoors, with a BBQ available for warmer days. On-street parking is available throughout the village on a first-come, first-served basis.

The village is well known from All Creatures Great and Small, and offers traditional character with everyday convenience, including walking routes from the doorstep, a small selection of shops and three friendly pubs. Nearby Aysgarth Falls (5 miles) and Hawes (5.5 miles) open up further opportunities for walking, with Hawes also home to the Wensleydale Creamery. Bolton Castle lies within 10 miles for a dose of history, while Semerwater Lake (5 miles) brings water-based activities and peaceful waterside walks.

The Studio was very cosy and comfortable. All equipment was provided. Very comfortable bed. The owners were very obliging and helped us with a technical problem. It really was home from home.
