Set in the friendly village of Murton on York’s outskirts, this spacious holiday home sits within easy reach of the A64, making it an excellent base for exploring both city and countryside. Ideal for a gathering of friends or family, this five-bedroom detached property is arranged over two floors, combining character details with modern styling and an acre of gardens.

A welcoming hallway leads into the open-plan kitchen and dining area, where a well-equipped kitchen sits alongside a generous dining table suited to group meals and sociable evenings. The adjoining lounge is bright and inviting, with exposed beams, a wood burner and a full wall of glazing looking out over the garden. On the ground floor, there is a twin bedroom with patio doors leading outside and its own WC, plus a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. Upstairs, accessed via a characterful narrow staircase with a turn, are three further bedrooms: two doubles and a king-size, all individually styled. A family bathroom with both bath and shower completes the upper floor. Outside, there’s extensive gardens extending to around an acre, with open views across the Yorkshire Wolds. A covered outdoor entertaining area includes cooking facilities, a wine fridge and additional refrigeration. The grounds include mature planting, cherry trees, lawned areas and outdoor play equipment for younger guests. Please note the property is adjacent to a working farm, so dogs must be kept under control. Private parking for two cars is available, with additional on-street parking subject to availability.

The surrounding area blends rural attractions with local convenience, including the Yorkshire Farming Museum in the village, a traditional pub in nearby Derwenthorpe. York’s Park & Ride is close by for straightforward access into the historic centre (3.5 miles), where medieval streets, independent shops and cultural landmarks such as the Jorvik Viking Centre (4 miles) and Shambles Market (3.5 miles) await. Retail outings are well covered too, with York Designer Outlet (5.5 miles) nearby. Castle Howard (14.5 miles), the Howardian Hills (15.5 miles), the North York Moors and the Yorkshire coast are all within reach, alongside family attractions such as York Maze, Piglets Adventure Park (1.5 miles) and the Derwent Valley Railway steam train (under 1 mile).

We had a lovely week at Cherry Tree House. The house itself is lovely and very comfortable. The garden is very impressive and the children loved playing in it. Also the outdoor kitchen was great.

We had a fantastic weekend at the cottage. The location is perfect, despite being in a village, the property is very secluded and genuinely feels private. The living room that leads on to the terrace was lovely, and so much room for us all without feeling cramped. My bed was very comfortable (the small double to the immediate right of the top of thRead moree stairs). Debra was a great host, who was easily to get in touch with. She allowed me to arrive slightly earlier too, which was very kind and helpful. Thank you for a brilliant weekend. If we are ever in need of somewhere to stay in the area again, we're coming back! :) Hide
