This three-storey home is wonderful for a family holiday or romantic break. Take long, satisfying walks through sprawling countryside and tuck into lunches in traditional village pubs. It’s in the wonderfully quiet village of Egdon, with a little shop 1.5 miles away in Grosmont and the famous coastal town of Whitby just a 7-mile drive away. With two dogs welcome, you’re invited to bring the family pets, who will love exploring the moorland that the house overlooks.

Exquisitely decorated with dark wooden furniture, cosy soft furnishings, tasteful artwork and soothing colour schemes, this is a true home away from home. The beautiful stonework continues inside, along with original woodwork peppered throughout. In the comfy lounge, stay warm by the wood burner on chilly evenings, perhaps soothing those weary legs with a soak in the rolltop bath upstairs. The kitchen, with its apron sink, central island and large wooden table, is wonderful for creating culinary masterpieces and sharing meals together. When eyelids start to droop, choose from a charming double bedroom and twin room. Outside, the spacious garden creates a fantastic spot for pets and children to play, with its patio, lawn and garden furniture ideal for al fresco dining.

In Egton village you’ll find two friendly pubs within 150 metres – great for enjoying an evening pint and perhaps some food when you don’t fancy cooking. If you’re keen for a day by the sea, head to Whitby to explore its harbour, ruined abbey and gorgeous sandy beaches. Robin Hood's Bay (11.5 miles), a picturesque fishing village a little further down the coast, is also well worth the trip. Looking for a treat for the kids? Go Ape (18.5 miles) offers an exhilarating experience with hilltop zip wires leading through tree-top canopies, all within the pretty setting of North Riding Forest Park.

We had a great week in Egton Cottage. A real "home from home" in a great village. Wonderful views from the garden and a fantastic pub over the road! We loved exploring the area - coast and moors - and ran out of days to do everything we wanted. We'll be back!

Enjoyed our week in this lovely cottage in a great location though cottage would benefit from a bit of tlc. Local pubs excellent and beautiful beaches in easy access - in particular Runswick Bay.

Lovely location, great pub opposite but property showing signs of wear and tear on plumbing and cooker. It's in danger of relying on location but slipping below the luxury level.

Spotlessly clean and well equipped. 2 excellent dog friendly pub/restaurants within 50 yards & another a mile down the (steep) hill.
