There’s a pub (400 metres) in Borrowby village, for a quiet drink or a treat meal out. Check out the independent shops, cafes and galleries of Thirsk and Northallerton (5 miles). Buy souvenirs or enjoy a bite to eat. The former of these market towns is where they filmed the famous vet-based TV series All Creatures Great and Small and it also boasts the James Heriot Museum, named after the author of the original books. Pack your walking boots and dogs into the car and drive 6.5 miles to Osmotherley, where you can join the 110-mile Cleveland Way national trail.
