This comfortable house, set over three floors, provides ideal accommodation for a family getaway to the Lake District, flexibly sleeping five or six with an extra child’s trundle bed. This home from home is the ideal base to explore the National Park, given its sought-after location near Lake Windermere. It even allows dogs, so the whole family can make memories together.

Set in perennially popular Storrs Park, this property spreads over three storeys, and is nicely decorated in largely neutral, relaxing tones with interesting textiles and patterns dotted throughout. The semi-open-plan living area comprising modern kitchen, dining area and lounge is on the first floor. This is at ground level to the back of the house, with a south-facing terrace garden opening from the lounge. In addition, there’s private parking for two cars here off the road, so that’s another thing less to worry about. Other really useful features include a utility room for laundry, a cloakroom for all the clutter and a garage where you can stow bikes and other outdoor gear; all super practical for an action-packed family holiday.

A boat trip on Lake Windermere is surely a must and will give you a better idea of its sheer scale. Or get another perspective by donning your walking boots, grabbing the dogs’ leads and hiking the Bowness Circular, which covers eight miles incorporating five fells and offering breathtaking lake views. The town of Bowness (1.5 miles) is the Lake District NP’s biggest and offers shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants to please visitors. You can head for Brockhole (5 miles north) to enjoy outdoor activities, walk by the lake or let kids loose on the adventure playground.
