Property code: OC-Y291

Nestled on the southern fringe of the North York Moors, this cabin offers the perfect couples’ escape. One of two detached cabins on the owner’s small farm, this romantic retreat overlooks a paddock of horses and is surrounded by open countryside. This property's eco-credentials include a solar heating system and ground source heat pump. Spend days exploring the moorland and forests, your canine companion by your side, and evenings snuggled in front of the wood burner or sharing a bottle of wine on your private decking.

Laid out over a single storey with a ramp to the front door, this property has been thoughtfully designed. Crafted to an extremely high standard with quality fixtures and fittings, it offers a snug and homely space to relax and unwind. Prepare meals for two in the contemporary fitted kitchen, then dine together at the dining table or under the covered decking to a soundtrack of birdsong. The large corner sofa is ideal for snuggling together to watch a film or just gazing out the window; it can be converted into a sofa bed for additional guests. A separate king-size bedroom invites a restful night's sleep, before a rejuvenating shower in the neighbouring wet room. Underfloor heating and a wood burner ensure you’ll be nice and toasty year-round.

With a pub, shop and cafe in the village, Middleton offers a quiet, rural base with the market town of Pickering just 2 miles away with its weekly market and selection of shops and eateries. There’s history here too, including a 13th-century castle, medieval church and frescoes, and a heritage steam railway that runs to Whitby during the summer months. You’re spoilt for choice for walking, cycling and horseback riding with Dalby Forest and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within 16.5 miles.

We had a pleasant stay in a lovely situation. The underfloor heating worked well and there was the backup of a wood stove if needed Although we don't have a dog it is the ideal place for those that do.

Rowan Lodge was a perfect location for us; one of us is a wheelchair user, and the lodge provided ample room to move around inside the Lodge easily from lounge to dining, to bed and bathroom. The location is ideal, providing a mid point between Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough to the south and the North Yorkshire Moors and Whitby to the North, and YRead moreork to the West. The lodge itself is very comfortable and warm, well equipped, with parking adjacent to the lodge. It is set in a beautiful rural farming landscape but just a short drive away from shops and restaurants/take-aways. Hide

The lady owners attitude was condescending when we asked her for advice on using the dishwasher and yes I have always figured them out before we were told she had left all the instruction books in a drawer and was astonished when we asked about the underfloor heating as if we should know all about it her attitude could also be described as passive Read moreaggressive never encountered this before Hide
