With its own en-suite shower room, sofa and TV, it’s almost a suite! Outside, the enclosed patio is furnished and makes a lovely spot for communal BBQs or quiet cuppas. Steps lead down to a sloping grassed area with a bench and there’s yet another bench for quiet contemplation to the front of the stone-style house. Off-road parking for two cars is another bonus.
The cobbled streets full of independent shops, pubs and cafes in Hawes are a must, especially on market day. For local culture and flavour, respectively, visit the Dales Countryside Museum and Wensleydale Creamery, home to the eponymous regional cheese. If waterfalls appeal then you’re in luck: England’s highest single waterfall is at Hardraw Force (2 miles); while there’s multiple cascades at Aysgarth Falls (10 miles). History buffs will enjoy Castle Bolton’s medieval fortress, that’s 13 miles from the property.
