A Grade II-listed barn conversion on a working farm within 9.5 miles of Hemsley, one of the many bustling market towns in the North York Moors National Park. Ideal for families, couples, walkers, cyclists, history and nature lovers, this dog-friendly cottage features a lounge/kitchen/diner, a gravel courtyard garden and easy access to Stokesly, Rievaulx Abbey and the Cleveland Way.

The one-storey stone barn is one of three on the farm’s accommodation complex and is surrounded by attractive farmland bordered by distant mountains between Grange and Fangdale Beck. Its interior is a blend of the traditional and modern, with oak-beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls beautifully complementing colourful and characterful soft furnishings laid out across flagstone flooring. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has underfloor heating and is a fantastic social space, with a wood burner and comfortable furniture at one end leading into a dining area and onto granite work surfaces. The en-suite king-size bedroom and the double bedroom feature striking stone walls, while a separate shower room stands nearby. The charming gravel courtyard garden offers seating for all against a scenic backdrop.

The barn is equidistant between Stokesley and Helmsley (both within 10 miles), two of the many bustling market towns beloved by visitors to the national park. Helmsley is home to dog-friendly shops and traditional pubs, a walled garden and a delightful castle. Walkers are well served in this area, with numerous routes including the Cleveland Way within 5 miles. Rievaulx Abbey (8 miles) is close to the route and offers a further glimpse into the county’s past.

Broomstick Cottage is part of former farm buildings located on an attractive working farm with happy chickens, ducks and cats wandering about. The overall conversion is excellent; a really interesting piece of architecture. The cottage is stylishly decorated and equipped to a very high standard with a full range of appliances. The cottage is veryRead more light, with floor to ceiling windows and a great view of the farm pond with lovely plants and lots of animals. We really enjoyed staying here. Our hosts were welcoming and discreet, we would love to come back. Hide

Came for a quiet relaxing break away from everything. This cottage delivered. Comfortable, well equipped, great location and no phone signal. Perfect. And, when we did fancy rejoining the world, Helmsley was an easy 15 minute run down the road. Response from Holidaycottages - Property does have Wi-Fi calling if necessary

What a beautiful property, lovely location and position! Just an idea I would have focused on, the name the "witches" cottage I would play on that image much more and create a unique selling point, just keept it simple and subtle.

Windows were smeared, dead spiders and flies on bathroom floor and kitchen windowsill, outside light not working, bulb in table lamp not working. Chairs had crumbs under cushions and two beige chairs were terribly stained. Worse still, it transpired the Welcome Guidance was incorrect. I was looking for a key fob to open the electronic gate to let iRead moren an emergency ambulance, only after the event to find there isn't one as they no longer use it.
