Located right on the Pennine Way, this fantastic cottage is a true walker’s sanctuary in the awe-inspiring North Yorkshire countryside. Ardent fields filled with bleating sheep surround this elevated cottage, allowing you to slowly wake up to the sights and sounds of the countryside each peaceful morning. Hosting four guests with two zip-and-link bedrooms, the property is utterly versatile and invites groups of friends, families or couples to feel right at home. It’s just half a mile from the village of Cowling, a chocolate box destination with country pubs to dip into at the end of any circular walk in the stunning countryside that surrounds it.

Every care has been taken to make this two-storey cottage into a comforting haven, complete with a wood burner for cosy, cold-weather stays and bi-fold doors out into the capacious garden for the summer. The garden consists of a patio with a BBQ, a pizza oven and outdoor seating, as well as a grassy space for children to play. Inside, put your feet up in the lounge/kitchen/diner with soft seating and quality appliances for rustling up tasty meals. Both bedrooms are equally attractive on the first floor, one king-size and one twin, each with its own en-suite and fantastic views from the windows.

A multitude of splendid tourist destinations are located close to here, including the hilly village of Haworth (7.5 miles) that’s alive with literary heritage. Home to the Bronte sisters, this locale is a must-visit. You can visit the sisters’ original home, now a fascinating museum, or take circular walks out into the countryside, heading towards the Bronte Waterfall (8 miles) to take in the inspiration for so many classic novels. In the opposite direction, visit Skipton (7 miles), a market town hailed as the ā€˜Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’, offering canal boat trips, a historic castle and an abundance of shops and restaurants.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 king-size and 1 twin zip-and-link (which can be made into a super-king-size on request)

We had a very pleasant short stay at Sheep Dip Barn. It is well-equipped, and provides very comfortable and homely accommodation, created to a very high standard. The Barn is in an excellent location for many visitor attractions, local walks, restaurants and pubs. We visited Haworth and Bront country (just 8 miles away), Malham Cove for a lovelyRead more walk (19 miles), plus local walks to Lunds Tower and Wainmans Pinnacle with spectacular views. We also enjoyed a meal at Vannis Italian restaurant in Foulridge (7 miles away) which was lovely. Victoria and Mark are excellent hosts. Our welcome pack included homemade bread and biscuits, and freshly laid eggs from their hens, which were really very nice. We brought some of the eggs home too. The Barn is situated in a good position on the farm, handy if you need anything, but secluded enough for privacy. The addition of an electric car charger was very handy. We enjoyed the company of a wide variety of birds, rabbits, ducks, and the cockerel while having breakfast outside. Waking up to sheep and lambs outside your bedroom window each morning really was quite special. We had a wonderful family break and made some special memories. Having such high-quality accommodation at Sheep Dip Barn added to our experience. Well definitely be back for a longer stay in the future. Thanks Victoria and Mark Hide

The cottage was warm, comfortable, luxurious. Furniture and fittings of top quality and all seemed new. Sheep, lambs and a few baby rabbits outside close to the boundary of the cottage, which was lovely to watch and photograph. it was very windy during our stay so too chilly to sit outside but later in the year would be idyllic. The Bay Horse Pub/Read moreRestaurant near Keighley was excellent with an offer for second visit. This is not to be confused with the Bay Horse in Cowling which was a locals drinking pub. Hide

Sheep dip barn was a very clean, modern and comfortable base for our time in Yorkshire/Lancashire with easy access to local shops, restaurants etc. The only slight negative was the lack of cupboard space in the kitchen and the hedge around the seating area blocked the amazing views around the cottage. We went to Skipton for the day, walked to the pRead moreinnacle & tower (what a view!!) And went to Blackpool to see the illuminations as it was only an hour's easy drive from the cottage. A great place. Hide
