  • Cosy home from home, relax in front of the roaring wood burner on those cooler evenings or in the garden on a summers day
  • Visit the nearby market town of Beverley, with plenty to do and a variety of restaurants and shops, or venture a little further to explore the beautiful East Yorkshire coastline
Property code: OC-75583

Enjoying an enviable village location, this exquisite cottage is ideal for two couples or a small family and a pair of pets. Explore market towns Beverley and Driffield – both within 10 miles – or enjoy days at the coast: Bridlington and Hornsea are each 20 miles away. Surrounded by farmland, the pretty village of Lund boasts a Grade II-listed gastro-pub and an ancient parish church.

Located along one of its quieter back lanes, this beautifully restored cottage is one of three sharing similarly high-end, superbly detailed interior layouts that combine traditional features with all the modern must-haves. Step inside and a brick-faced fireplace and exposed ceiling beams lend a rustic air to the dining room; beyond this, the sleek kitchen has all the essentials for effortless self-catering plus a door onto the garden. Another door from the dining room leads into the loveliest of lounges. Stretch out on your choice of sofa to watch TV or cosy up while the wood burner casts a warming glow over lively conversations; when you want a breath of fresh air or a wander in the garden, fully glazed doors lead directly onto a pretty patio. As bedtime approaches, head upstairs to two tastefully furnished king-size rooms and a stylish bathroom. At the rear of the property, the secure cottage-style garden has a patio, fruit trees and views across paddocks to the East Yorkshire Wolds. If you’d like to share your holiday with others, two neighbouring properties can be booked to accommodate a further eight guests – please ask us for details.

Wander through the village to a wonderful country inn – it’s just 400 metres from your doorstep and you can reserve a dog-friendly table – or venture further afield to walk the Wolds Way which passes through Market Weighton (9.5 miles) en route from the Humber to Filey. If you’d prefer a drive to the coast, family-friendly Bridlington is 20 miles away. Just to its south, the beach at Fraisthorpe is popular for water sports, while Hornsea (19 miles) has a seafront promenade and quaint streets dotted with independent shops, pubs and eateries. For more retail therapy, head to the market towns of Driffield or Beverley. Alternatively, head to Malton (20 miles), which sits on the southern edge of the Howardian Hills and is synonymous with stately Castle Howard.

We were very disappointed with this property. It looked so beautiful in the pictures but the downstairs stank of dogs and the soft furnishings were covered in stains and dog hairs with the kitchen dirty and unhygienic. In the end we cut our break short and returned home early.

Had a lovely week at Harthill Cottage. Bonus of good weather. Lund is well positioned for visits to York and coast by Flamborough. Loved the large sunny garden for morning coffee.

Wonderfully relaxing cottage and village, great facilities and helpful owners who live close by (lots of advice on what to do, where to go, how to eat like kings and queens).
