Set within the Nidderdale AONB, footpaths and breathtaking countryside abound if you’re after walking or cycling. Harrogate with its Victorian and Edwardian splendour, Turkish Baths, RHS Harlow Carr Gardens and independent shopping is 9 miles away. The National Trust’s Brimham Rocks (8.5 miles) amazes with its odd and dramatic rock formations amid the moorland. Also NT, Fountains Abbey (12 miles) is a World Heritage site, offering abbey ruins and grounds, including a water garden and deer park. Both places allow dogs on leads.
