You can share your Yorkshire break with up to five other friends or family and three dogs; this comfortable property’s flexible sleeping and living accommodation make it work well for any such group. There’s space to breathe in the house, but also plenty to do with a games room, hot tub, books and games. But if you’re up for outdoor adventure, grab the dog leads, put your walking boots on and discover the wild beauty of the North York Moors National Park or tick off some must-visit beach resorts along this northern stretch of coastline.

The rolling countryside views all around this cosy cottage are the stuff of holiday dreams. Soak them up through the picture windows in the house or from the hot tub in the garden after a long day’s adventure. Store outdoor stuff in the generous panelled boot room, that’s handy for drying dogs off, too. Sophisticated decor and modern furnishings make the ambience calm, with all mod cons for a comfortable rural retreat. There’s one bedroom downstairs, the other two being upstairs with charming sloping ceilings. Outside, the south-facing, fully enclosed garden is big, offering a large lawned area, a furnished patio, the hot tub and even a stream.

From peaceful Ebberston, there are many walks through rolling countryside, almost from your door, including in the North York Moors NP. You could join the 110-mile Cleveland Way 20 miles away in Helmsley and walk a stretch of that national trail. But the coast calls loud here, with Scarborough’s golden swathes just 12.5 miles away. The UK’s first seaside resort, it remains popular with its two sandy bays and amusements galore. Smaller Filey is a former fishing village that’s 15.5 miles away and offers a more tranquil pace with its promenade and huge sandy bay.

There is only one word that describes everything about Southlea Retreat Phenomenal. The house has absolutely everything you could need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. It is exceptionally clean, beautifully presented, and very well equipped. The EV charger was the cherry on top and a much-appreciated bonus. The garden is stunning, with coRead moremfortable outdoor furniture, a picnic table, and a fantastic hot tub that our daughter thoroughly enjoyed. The games room in the garage was another real highlight and provided hours of entertainment. The location is peaceful, idyllic, and perfectly situated, offering easy access to the surrounding villages and towns while still feeling like a true countryside retreat. The hosts, Helen, John, and Joe, were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their communication before and throughout our stay was excellent. We have stayed in many holiday homes over the years, but Southlea Retreat is undoubtedly one of the very best. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury, peaceful getaway, and we cant wait to return. Hide

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property provides everything you could wish for and was spacious, very clean and well presented. The hot tub and games room went down well! Ideally situated for visiting local attractions. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

A beautifully decorated cottage with a secure garden for our doggos. The hot tub was fantastic, the beds comfortable, and appliances were top notch. Would recommend! The location is near a road, yes, but that's not too noisy and the locale is very peaceful.

We had a fantastic stay in this wonderful cottage which had plenty to entertain our children. There was a cake and eggs to greet our arrival and our boys particularly loved the games room. Our hosts were really helpful and they had thought of everything in this very clean and well equipped cottage. Just reading the previous reviews prior to booking Southlea gave us an insight as to what we might expect. As it turned out the reviews were accurate and heartfelt. You get a good first impression when you see the area Southlea is based in. Miles of beautiful Yorkshire countryside on all sides to admire.Although situated next to a small A road, tRead moreraffic was imperceptible and this road was a godsend for commuting to various places near and not so near. The house itself is built and decorated to an extremely high standard throughout. Three good sized bedrooms with ample space and storage in each again tastefully decorated. Decent sized kitchen with all the whistles and bells with regards appliances and equipment etc. There is a nice looking log burner in the living room, didn't get chance to try it unfortunately seeing as though we happen to pick the hottest weekend of the year for our break there!! There's also a handy little utility/dog room near the front door. Outside the hot tub bubbled away quietly and invitingly tempting the inevitable impromptu dip.....more than once I might add!! The patio with the large bench table and the barbeque came in very handy one evening, although most meals were had alfresco because of the weather. A sizable lawned area compliments the house and patio area where the dogs had plenty of room to chase about and games were played to keep the children occupied. Speaking of games, a handy little annex with a pool table, dart board etc whilst away a few hours with a spot of healthy competition!! If you just wanted to take in the surroundings then just watching the sheep, lambs, chickens and goats in the next field will keep you engrossed for ages. Trips out to the Thornton le Dale show, Filey (bypassed Scarborough because on bank holiday Monday everyone and their dog seemed to be going there!!) Whitby, In fact, a lot of the smaller local villages were beautiful and well worth a visit. All that is left to say really is that on our last evening the hostess and her son (I must apologise I can't remember their names) and what a lovely person she is, we're glad we met her just to tell her personally how much we enjoyed her lovely place. We would definitely recommend to others and, hopefully revisit ourselves sometime in the near future. 5 stars all day long!! Cheers. Ian. Hide

Exceptional property, no faults! Lovely host, cleanliness to the highest standard. Beautiful garden/house - attention to detail in each room. No faults at all, would love to return. Local pubs nearby and seaside locations a matter of 30 minutes away

We had a really lovely stay. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, which made the trip so much easier. There was great entertainment for the children, and the garden was perfect for the dog to enjoy safely while we took in the beautiful views. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and will definitely be returning.
