Perfectly positioned in the village of Soulby, between the North Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales, this modern home is ideal for groups of up to five people. Surrounded by inspiring walking routes, it’s a light-filled home with plenty of space, superb facilities and a wood burner to warm you as you relax after days in the fresh air.

The house blends modern design with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area is its sociable hub, with plush sofas gathered around the TV. The high-quality kitchen (which has both a microwave and a dishwasher) makes catering for a group effortless, whether you’re gathering at the dining table, perched at the kitchen island or taking your food outside. The snug, which features a double-sided wood burner, offers a quiet retreat and has a sofa bed if required. Also on the ground floor are a charming single bedroom and a wet room. A spiral staircase leads up to the first floor, where you’ll have two generous king-size bedrooms: one with a Juliet balcony and cleverly concealed en-suite, the other with stunning views. Completing the interior is a family bathroom. The garden looks out across the river and includes dining areas and a lawn. Dog owners may use the enclosed paddock for exercising, and you’ll have private parking for three cars.

From the door, you can head out on numerous walks, including a riverside footpath to the summit of the Nine Standards and East Gill Force waterfall (13 miles). In Kirkby Stephen, 2.5 miles away, there are excellent options for shopping and eating out, or you could embark on the famous Coast to Coast walking trail. For a day out, the heritage Stainmore Railway is just 3.5 miles away, while both Lammerside Castle and Pendragon Castle are within 7 miles.

very well equipped property, excellent welcome pack, nice paddock for dogs, lots of birds and a red squirrel at feeding station. however if we were a family with young children i would be concerned with the drop down to the river the garden is open and its a twenty foot drop. would recommend the property for adults and older children.

We had a great week in this really nice and unusual eco house. Great kitchen area and spacious enough to allow us all to share in food preparation. We appreciated the thoughtful touches of coffee, milk, yummy crisps etc left for us. The house is in a lovely position down a quiet lane with a river running along the garden. Soulby is an attracRead moretive small village with friendly neighbours very close to Kirkby Stephen which is charming small market town. Decking is well placed for sun both morning and evening, which meant we were able to sit out for breakfast with the birds and sound of the river a couple of days even though it wasn't summer yet. On the cooler days it was lovely and warm in the house. Very sad to leave there at the end of the week! Hide
