Escape the everyday with a back-to-nature getaway in this magical yurt designed for two. With views over a tranquil lake and surrounded by wildflower meadows and woodland, it’s a peaceful retreat with a comfortable bed, a wood burner and a private WC, plus access to plenty of shared amenities.
Built in 2023 to a bespoke design, this beautifully crafted, yurt-inspired roundhouse is fully insulated and double-glazed, making it a cosy, year-round hideaway. Stable doors open into a charming, circular living space with comfortable seating, a dining table and a handmade, king-size bed. There are solar-powered lamps and trails of fairy lights, plus USB charging points and plug sockets for practicality. A wood burner adds warmth and atmosphere on cooler evenings. You’ll have cooking facilities in the shared kitchen, known as The Chicken Shed, and a relaxed, shared dining and sitting area in The Roost. Adjacent to your front door, you’ll find the entrance to the Throne Room, your private composting WC, while the shared shower/WC block is less than 50 metres away. Your sheltered, wraparound deck overlooks the lake and is furnished with armchairs and a double rocking chair for slow mornings and watching the sun set. Guests are welcome to explore the extensive grounds, enjoy the shared fire pit and BBQ, row on the lake or fish by arrangement. Secure bike and motorbike storage is available, and you’ll have a space in the site’s car park.
Within half a mile, you can reach the village pub in Melbourne or the Pocklington Canal (where there are seasonal narrow-boat rides). The market town of Pocklington is just 6 miles away, as are the Yorkshire Air Museum and the York Maze. The historic city of York is 12 miles away, while Beverley and Hull are both less than 28 miles distant.
