Property code: OC-88054

Welcome to this delightful cottage in the heart of Richmond, one of North Yorkshire’s many bustling market towns and a haven for foodies, walkers and cyclists. Ideal for a couple seeking a romantic weekend away, the cottage features a smart lounge/diner, a cosy decked area and easy access to attractions in Swaledale and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The two-storey cottage stands off one of the many narrow streets that wind their way towards Richmond’s cobbled marketplace and the River Swale. The interior is a blend of original features and contemporary soft furnishings, and the colour palette and the arrangement of the house is welcoming to guests. After stepping down into the lounge/diner, eyes will be drawn towards the exposed wooden beams and flagstone flooring before everyone settles on the comfortable sofas in front of the wood burner. The well from which the cottage takes its name is a key feature of the nearby kitchen, which has plenty of space for foodies to work their magic. The en-suite double bedroom upstairs is a real treat, with plenty of natural light pouring in from windows on one side. A door in the bedroom leads out onto a decked terrace with a table, seating and views of Richmond Castle. Steps lead down to a walled terrace which has seating and access to a storage cellar that doubles as a utility room.

Richmond sits on a hill above the River Swale and as well as being filled with shops, pubs and eateries, enjoys a plethora of cultural, historic and natural attractions. The town has a fantastic Norman castle and it’s easy to walk between here and the River Swale. Both Swaledale (of which Richmond is the capital) and the Yorkshire Dales National Park (2.5 miles) are hugely popular with walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

  • 1 bedroom - Double
  • En-suite shower room with walk-in shower and WC

  • Small terrace with bistro table and chairs and lower walled terrace with bench

Great place to stay. The property is very clean and well decorated with all the facilities you'll need. if we had been given more information and pictures of the place we would not have booked it. We think it is not a suitable venue for older people who may have some mobility problems

Lovely cottage in a great location. Richmond has lots of bars and places to eat. The Dales are a short drive away. The cottage provides a parking disc which gives you 2hrs of free parking. A short walk to the bottle of the hill is Fosse Car Park, it costs 20 for the week, payable by card or cash.

A lovely cottage centrally located in Richmond. Fixtures, fittings and decor were carefully chosen and high quality. Spotlessly clean throughout and a welcome pack for us and our dog. The tiny balcony had super views over Richmond. Close to independent shops and restaraunts and varied dog walks.

A lovely well designed cottage in a great location. Easy access both to town and walks. It was very hot during our stay and coming back to the cottage was like stepping into natural air conditioning - cool in lounge at front but lovely and light at the back with great views. Helpful neighbour who told us lovely cool walks for us & our dogs.

This holiday accommodation is beautifully appointed but sadly is not suitable for seniors. Although its on the ground floor the interior is on differing levels with steps between rooms. Then there is the parking! Not only is there no parking outside the accommodation but the nearest paid for parking is only available half a mile away. There is fRead moreree parking for two hours only on the town square a short distance away. Sad because the property is in an interesting location below the castle walls but the distances and gradients involved in getting around on foot make for a difficult experience when one is older or disabled. Great physical location for walking around Richmond however as there are other properties above and next door on both sides, noises from both could be heard a lot causing disturbance as our dog and others constantly barking. Nice place but a bit on the expensive side for size of property. Not enough hanging space for clothes plus bathroom could beRead more improved with a waste bin and small shelf/unit to put toiletries etc Hide

Stayed for 6 nights and wished it could have been longer! A very clean and quiet cottage in an excellent location. The kitchen was very well-stocked and the generous welcome pack was appreciated. Enjoyed lots of lovely walks in the area and hope to stay again next year.
