As you enter the property, you’ll notice the characterful beamed ceiling in the neutral-toned lounge with wooden furnishings and accents of grey. Surrounding the feature fireplace are two sofas and a footstool. Continue into the homely farmhouse-style kitchen/diner with pretty countertops on the fitted kitchen. Adjacent is a lovely dining table for six. On the first floor is a classy family bathroom with a shower over the bath. There are also two bedrooms – a king-size with wood-panelled walls and a double with a built-in wardrobe. The third bedroom, a twin room, resides on the top floor, in the eaves of the property. Outside is a rear patio area with furniture. There is free on-street parking in the evening, subject to availability.

If you follow the Pickering Beck north through the town, you’ll reach the North Yorkshire Moors Heritage Railway. Just 1 mile away is the edge of the North York Moors National Park – here you’ll find North Riding Forest Park (8 miles), which is full of cycling and hiking trails. To the east is the medieval Helmsley Castle (13 miles) and the dramatic ruins of 11th-century Rievaulx Abbey (16 miles). If you’re in the mood for a beach day, the coast is just 18 miles away.
