Perched on the outskirts of Hawes with stunning views across dales and fells, this detached stone cottage is a delightful home-from-home. Sleeping five guests in three bedrooms, this dog-friendly abode is warm and welcoming with a large back garden. Hawes is a great base for foodies and home to the famous Wensleydale Creamery, and it’s surrounded by magical walking country, making this ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who like a base in town.

Set back from the main road, this two-storey cottage has a cosy, traditional feel with large windows making the most of the glorious views. There’s a handy porch for leaving muddy boots before stepping into the comfortable lounge where deep sofas invite you to relax after roaming dales and fells, and windows overlook the surrounding countryside. When tummies start to rumble, the spacious kitchen/diner forms a sociable hub with all the essentials for preparing and dining at home, and more gorgeous views to inspire mouthwatering mealtimes. At the end of the day, head upstairs to get cosy beneath the covers of three charming bedrooms, two king-size and a single room with a fold-out bed for an additional person if required. A family bathroom, ground-floor WC and utility room offer comfort and convenience. Outside, a grassy garden circled by a stone wall provides the backdrop to al fresco drinks in the fresh Yorkshire air. The property benefits from one off-road parking space and additional on-street parking subject to availability.

Wander half a mile into town to explore the independent shops, antiques stores and eateries of this rural market town, and discover the lively Tuesday market. Walkers are spoilt for choice as the region is rich in trails, including the glorious waterfall at Aysgill Force (9.5 miles) and the Snaizeholme Red Squirrel Sanctuary (4 miles).

Amazing holiday! So much to do, nearby public footpaths to the Yorkshire dales, cottage is walking distance to the village of hawes, butchers has the best Eccles cakes and pork pies we have ever tasted! 5 star dining experiences were had at the crown, the white heart inn, curva cafe, the pantry, our little girl loved the ice cream parlour asking toRead more visit there daily and there was also Wensleydale cheese making experience with afternoon tea at Calvert's restaurant, we enjoyed an egg hunt at the crown and the village held an egg hunt competition arranged by their local school for the Easter holidays, there was a beautiful park walking distance from the cottage which delighted our 7 year old daughter, everywhere is dog friendly with the local pub having dog treats which we loved! There is a squirrel trail locally and we weren't far from ayrsgarth falls and the forbidden corner and after a busy day the cottage was lovely and warm to return to plenty of space to wind down and chill, we played card games and charades that are part of the multiple games on offer and the beds and bedding were so comfortable we slept really well, the kitchen has everything you need and the views from the back of the house are just amazing, we woke every morning to sheep and their lambs literally next to the back garden, was a special holiday and we would love to return and explore some more thank you to the lovely owners for letting us stay in their beautiful home.
