Immerse yourselves in historic Whitby when you stay at this delightful cottage close to the centre of the Yorkshire seaside town. Sleeping four guests, the three-bedroom hideaway offers relaxing accommodation across three storeys and includes a courtyard garden. Also welcoming a four-legged friend, the retreat, which could suit a small family or two couples, is just across the River Esk from striking Whitby Abbey.

Step into the entrance from the street and shuffle off your shoes before finding yourselves in the lounge. This welcoming space, with its wood burner-style gas fire and comfortable seating, is the perfect place to enjoy some downtime between your outings. Watch TV in here and stream your favourite shows through the Amazon Firestick. The kitchen/diner is another great space to congregate. Here you will find everything you need to help you cater for your party with your own provisions. There is also a table to gather round for meals or to linger over a bottle of wine as you chat into the evening. As the day draws to a close, head off to the upper floors of the cottage. A king-size bedroom and a small double, with views out towards the abbey, are on the first floor. A single bedroom and the family bathroom are on the top floor. Savour the sea air out in the courtyard garden on fine days. Dine out here as often as possible. There is no designated parking for the cottage but there are pay and display areas nearby.

Stroll 500 metres down to the sandy beach to swim and picnic on the sand. Climb the 199 steps up to the abbey to take in the views, 0.5 miles from the cottage. Stride out along the picturesque Cleveland Way or plan a day out into the dramatic North York Moors.

Cute and quirky cottage in postcard pretty Whitby. We enjoyed a take away from the famous Trenches chip shop. We also enjoyed food and cocktails on the balcony of Macey Browns in the sunshine. We enjoyed local dressed crab and ice-creams, a windy walk on the beach and of course the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. We had a comfortable and pleasant stay aRead moret Poppy cottage with 2 teenagers and our dog. Nice and cozy to watch films in the evening. The property was clean with comfy beds and plenty of towels. All essential kitchen amenities (no air fryer or dishwasher). Kitchen diner is small to seat 4. Bathroom is attic level next to third (single) bedroom. The stairs two flights of stairs are steep and winding. Street level access and very centrally located. Hide

Brilliant location for the cottage, unfortunately wouldn't stay again because of the steep stairs.

The cottage is well located with easy access to Whitby harbour. The cottage is small and cozy. It is well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom is on the top floor up quite steep stairs so my mum (80) struggled a bit with the access. The cottage wasnt the cleanest when we arrived, strong dog smell, carpets on stairs in need of Read morea good clean and dirty trays in the oven but bedrooms, living room and bathroom were spotless and nothing that would stop us from revisiting as all fixable.
