Set on the banks of the River Esk, this waterfront cottage promises an atmospheric stay in the historic fishing town of Whitby. Comfortably sleeping four guests in two bedrooms, this dog-friendly holiday home is perfect for a couples'' escape, a family holiday or a getaway with friends. While away days chilling on beaches, delving into the town''s gothic past and exploring the surrounding countryside. Then return here for sunny afternoons in the shared courtyard garden and evenings snuggled in the lounge.

Arranged over four levels, this cosy cottage has an abundance of charm and character with wooden, beamed ceilings, exposed walls, polished wooden floors and a quirky layout. Enter through the rear, shared courtyard to find a sleek, monochrome kitchen with quality appliances and clever lighting. The first-floor lounge/diner invites relaxing evenings in with two plush sofas, a warming wood burner, a Smart TV with Sky, and a dining table seating four. A window seat at the front of the room provides the perfect spot to curl up with a cuppa and watch the hustle and bustle of the marina. Sleeping arrangements comprise a second-floor double bedroom set beneath the eaves, and a lower ground floor twin room, which can be accessed via the front door or through a bespoke hatch into the lounge. An en suite off the twin and a first-floor family shower room offer comfort and convenience, while outside the shared courtyard garden has garden furniture for al-fresco drinks in the salty sea air. While this property doesn''t have private parking, there are car parks nearby along with some on-street parking.

From wandering along the harbour watching the fishing boats to sandy, salty days on the beach, Whitby has heaps of maritime allure. Climb the 199 steps to explore historic Whitby Abbey and the Church of St Mary, which inspired Bram Stoker''s Dracula. Keen walkers can set off along the coast path or venture inland to roam the North York Moors.
