A clever fusion of old-school character and contemporary styling puts this pretty holiday home in a class of its own. Less than 200 metres from Sandsend Beach, it’s pet-friendly and sleeps six in three beautiful bedrooms – two on the ground floor and the third with its own seating area and bathroom.
Set in a picturesque valley on the Heritage Coast, this atmospheric abode is light, airy and chic, its neutral palette punctuated by splashes of colour and dramatic pieces of art. At the heart of the house is a handsome open-plan living space, divided into separate areas and with a double-height ceiling and original wood-panelled walls. Stretch out on soft sofas to watch TV by the wood burner after you’ve shared chef duties in the sleek kitchen and enjoyed lively conversation at the dining suite that sits between these two spaces. When it’s time to say goodnight, there are two bedrooms at ground level – the first has a super-king-size bed with windows either side, the second is a twin in beach chalet style, and a family bathroom is convenient for both. The third bedroom fills the upper floor – in the eaves of the house – and is generously sized, with a king-size bed, seating area and bathroom. Step outside and you''ll find a picnic table to the front of the property and a decking area with BBQ to the rear – the perfect spot for food, drinks and sea air.
Stroll to the beach for a stunning view of the romantic ruins of Whitby Abbey; at low tide you can explore the rockpools here or walk the 2 miles into town for a wide choice of shops, traditional seaside entertainment and a traditional fish and chips feast. Other beautiful locations nearby include Staithes (7.5 miles), Runswick Bay (5.5 miles) and Robin Hood''s Bay (8 miles) – the latter famous for its maze of cobbled streets.
