Around Melsonby village there are many bridle paths so it is perfect for exercising, a short walk takes you to the village pub and there are many delightful villages nearby with pubs serving good food should you feel like eating out. If you are a foodie, head to one of the local farm shops with delis and tearooms, where you will see farm animals grazing in the paddocks. The historic market town of Richmond is just 5.5 miles away with much to offer. Explore the cobbled market square or stroll up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. Head north to Barnard Castle (12.5 miles), its streets lined with independent shops, cafes, art galleries and of course Bowes Museum is well worth a visit.
