Whisk your family, friends and even a happy hound away to this traditional stone cottage in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Sleeping five guests, the three-bedroom retreat is within Low Row, above the enchanting River Swale, 14 miles from historic Richmond. Surrounded by rolling hills, this is an idyllic location for anyone who enjoys getting out and about in the great outdoors on foot or by bicycle. There are two wood burners to keep you toasty and warm during the colder months and a south-facing patio where you can soak up the scenery in the summertime.
Return from your excursions to stoke up the wood burner in the beamed lounge and settle back for a spell to listen to music, watch the Smart TV or discuss the adventures of the day. Amble through to the kitchen to unpack any Yorkshire provisions you have bought and to rustle up yet another delicious feast for your nearest and dearest. Serve tasty dinners and hearty breakfasts in the adjacent dining room, where there is another wood burner and a picture window that pulls the views right inside. When eyelids begin to droop, make your way upstairs to lay your head in either the twin bedroom, the double or the small double, which has a 4’ bed. The family bathroom is also up here and there is a separate WC. Make the most of your outside seating area on fine days. Relax outside with a good book and a cup of Yorkshire tea as you absorb the tranquillity and admire the far-reaching views.
Head out on foot from the cottage to immerse yourselves in the Dales. Scenic Calver Hill is just over 1 mile from your base. Plan a trip to Aysgarth Falls, 12.5 miles away, where you can walk alongside the River Ure. Other local attractions within 15 miles include the ruins of Richard III’s Middleham Castle, the Old Gang Smelting Mill, Calver Hill and the Forbidden Corner.
