Awake to beautiful views out across the Yorkshire Dales when you stay at this welcoming cottage in the pretty village of Burtersett. Sleeping four guests, the cosy, two-bedroom bolthole, which is 1.5 miles from Hawes, is perfect for a small family or two couples away together. With a roaring wood burner set into a gorgeous natural stone hearth and a courtyard garden, where you can enjoy the fresh country air, this inviting hideaway is a year-round treat.

Take two steps up to enter and make yourselves immediately at home in the magical lounge/diner. Sink back into the sofa and toast your toes by the wood burner after your bracing autumn and winter walks. Take in a couple of episodes of your favourite box set before wandering through to the kitchen to prepare a bubbling dish with the Wensleydale cheese you have bought at the creamery in Hawes. Call everyone through to gather round the table to dine together back through in the main room. There is also a small breakfast bar in the kitchen for more casual meals. The family bathroom, where you can soak in a long, hot bubble bath, is also downstairs. At the end of each relaxing day, climb the stairs up to the first floor, there a 90 degree turn on the staircase and handrail on side to aide, where a double bedroom and a room with a splendid, four-poster, king-size are situated. Have breakfast out in the courtyard garden on fine mornings before heading off on your next adventure.

Stride straight out from the cottage on long walks across the magnificent Dales. Walk into Hawes to stock up on local produce, dine out in a friendly pub and visit the Dales Countryside Museum. The impressive Aysgarth Falls, which were used as a backdrop during the filming of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, are 8 miles from the cottage.

There are some very thoughtful touches in the cottage, however the ongoing maintenance issues mean I cannot reccomend it. There's tea coffee and biscuits on arrival, nicely decorated rooms and comfortable furniture. However the hot water is lukewarm even with the immersion switched on. Kettles of boiling water are required to do the washing up andRead more to have a bath. The door is missing from the freezer box so frozen food defrosted and food on the top shelf of the fridge froze up. I notice this was mentioned in a review a couple of months ago and hasn't been addressed. These problems do not make for a comfortable stay. There were no logs when we arrived. These issues mean we had a series of conversations with the agent which was an unnecessary interruption to our holiday. Disappointedly we won't be returning. Hide

These above small issues did not spoil our stay, so the above information I would ask to be passed to the owner only so issues may be corrected if she is able to do so. We thought the cottage was lovely, a great location, so peaceful, restful and relaxing. We loved the four poster bed it was so comfortable. Would definitely go back.

Fine for a short stay. Really only big enough for a couple. Found the stairs quite awkward. Plenty of crockery and utensils. Comfortable sofa. Would only recommend to younger agile friends.
