Gaze out across the verdant hills from this cottage right at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Located in Hawes, the two-bedroom retreat sleeps four guests and offers dog-friendly accommodation so your four-pawed pal can come along too. With a courtyard garden where you can bask in the Yorkshire sunshine after your long walks, it also has a reverse-level design and a Juliet balcony for maximising the views.

Let yourselves into the charming stone abode at ground-floor level to discover this is where both your king-size bedrooms are situated. The family shower room is also downstairs. Climb the stairs to the first floor of the cottage to spread out and relax in its inviting living accommodation. Amble through to the lounge to read your books, catch up on your favourite boxsets or make plans for the following day’s adventures as you enjoy the views. Wander into the kitchen to make cups of tea and coffee or to whip up the next delicious meal using the fresh Yorkshire produce you have bought in Hawes. Gather round the table in here to dine together with the doors to the Juliet balcony open to bring in a spring or summer breeze. Dine outside in the fresh air on fine days or unwind on the bench over morning coffee in the courtyard garden before striking out on your next excursion.

Stroll around the characterful streets of Hawes, pausing in independent shops or sitting down to afternoon tea in a cafe. Take a tour of the Wensleydale Creamery and visit the Dales Countryside museum while you are here. Walk 1.5 miles out of town to Hardraw Force Waterfall or 2.5 miles to Cotter Force. Pick up the Pennine Way in Hawes or attempt a circular walk that takes you along part of the long-distance footpath.

We generally go on 2 or 3 cottage holidays per year and we must say Holme Barn is certainly one of the best equipped weve ever stayed in. It was comfortable, and warm, and does you credit. The property description, and comments, were very accurate and so on arrival there were no surprises.

The cottage is in a wonderful position with many amenities in easy walking distance. The property is very well equipped, with everything you need for a relaxing break. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and the extra touches (milk, biscuits, torches by the door & Christmas decor) were really appreciated.

A lovely cottage. Had everything we needed. The washer/dryer was so helpful after our rainy days out. The lane down to the cottage was narrow but we got our transporter down there and onto the drive.

We stayed at Holme Barn over the 1st Bank Holiday in May. The cottage has a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, plenty of hot water and excellent heating The location is brilliant and walking distance to the local shops, eateries, pubs and The Wensleydale Cheese Factory, which is a must! There are fantastic views over fields with many lRead moreambs and sheep making this a very relaxing stay. We have a Ford Kuga and this fitted, albeit snugly, on the driveway. All in all we would definitely recommend staying here and would book again if we were holidaying in the area in the future. Hide
