A romantic holiday escape awaits at this characterful split-level cottage, tucked away down a peaceful lane off Church Street near Whitby Harbour. Blending original features with contemporary touches, this one-bedroom retreat is a great place to hide away after a wonderful day exploring the seaside town’s shops and eateries (300 metres) and wandering along its golden beach, less than half a mile away.

Made cosy by an impressive brick fireplace with a glowing wood burner, a feature of the original building, the open-plan living space is the heart of the home. Watch the Smart TV from the comfort of the sofa or whip up some tasty snacks in the unique kitchen-in-a-cupboard. Your home-cooked delights can be served at the drop-leaf table by the window. The relaxing double bedroom and shower room are reached via a short, turning flight of steps and is a great space to drift off and dream.

While there is no outside space with this property, all of Whitby’s exciting attractions are within easy reach. Grab your chance to explore Bram Stoker’s classic setting of the novel Dracula – the gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey are just a 199-step climb away, a mile from the front door. Both Tate Hill Beach and West Cliff Beach are within half a mile, as are a plethora of quirky cafes, traditional pubs and boutique shops. Whitby is also the ideal starting point to explore other picturesque fishing villages and market towns such as Robin Hood’s Bay or Staithes, both 6 miles away, and Ravenscar, 14 miles.

I spent two nights in Salty Sam's, it had everything I needed, there was milk, tea bags and biscuits kindly supplied, I didnt know so I brought my own, I did snaffle a few biscuits though. The cottage is down a twitten, very peaceful but two minutes from being in the centre of things, so the best of both worlds.

The directions to the let could be made clearer. There is no mention of a gate at the top of the alley which was closed on my arrival. As this just appeared to be a service alley with no mention of the lets at the end of it, I was very unsure as to where this was leading to having decided to try, as the let is a long way down the alley which appearRead mores to be heading nowhere. There is also no information on where to place rubbish bags. Otherwise the let served my needs perfectly. Hide
